There are contradictions. Some think it's symbolic, while others take every word literally. Science and the Bible clash on major issues. There are various translations and, in some religions, even new translations that try to fit more current circumstances. Different versions contradict each other. When I read the bible, I can appreciate the writing, but I can't get past the fact that it was written by men with conflicting memories of Jesus. I know, for instance, that history can be changed in an instant with pen and ink. What have you been told that makes you believe without proof?

Add: Sure I've read the NOVEL The DaVinci Code...that just added another layer of wonder! I'm also "full of love and seeking the truth", but I don't hear a voice leading me to it. I also think the Bible is beautifully written, but that doesn't mean it is all true. Oh well, guess I just have to continue to wonder.

2Q&learn: I can say, for certain, I have not been near a Kingdom Hall. (you asked where I've been) I've studied your faith and it is positively scary and cult-like.

Although this question has been "hashed" over time and time again, I will take the time to attempt to answer you.
The Bible is not what you think it is. God foreknew what people could do with it (as you have stated) because He made humans and knows what makes them tick.
God employed the inspiration of the Holy Spirit to influence the writing of the Holy Bible. It was not a written opinion but an eye-witness account of the Life of Jesus (New Testament).
With the advent of the Dead Sea Scrolls being discovered, this also, served to verify the accuracy of the earlier Jewish Version. The proof is in the proverbial "pudding" - and when you have a working, spiritual relationship with God, the Father, the Bible "works" ! The Bible is the world's number 1, most selling book. It is contains the only writings which have been handed down by people for thousands of years. It also, is the only book which deals with the past, present and the future ! It is widely used by Archeoligists especially, in the middle east to verify finds in the "digs" which occur. Hebrew University at Jerusalem, uses the Bible extensively. The accuracy of the Bible has been proved by Archeologists, finding places, names and things which were thought to be just invented - only later, to found true to life, as the Bible had initially stated.. Scholar, Bruce Barton called it, "the book that nobody knows". For example; the Bible stated thousands of years before Galleao(?), that the earth was round, as others staunchly claimed that it was flat.(see: the Book of Isaiah chapter 40, verse 22) . True Science & the Holy Bible really do, complement one another !!!

look to me it doesn't matter what his name is as long as i can accept, respect and tolerate other people's point of view. However i really dislike when people tell me that I must believe in something I haven't all my life. During my childhood many people told me I would burn in hell for not having a religion, some even said that I had no soul heck even my teachers called a retard for not knowing anything about the 10 commandments... come on honestly do you really expect a 6 year old to know about that stuff if you say yes... well you're full of it. Being an agnostic is the best thing that has ever happened to me cause i'm eager to learn more about other cultures and i'm more open minded to other theories (some i may support others well if i don't like then i don't; live and let live). I'm still not sure what kind of evidence i have... but i know i got one... all i want is someone to pray to when times get rough and for that someone to guide me through life as it comes.

What solid proof would you feel is acceptable? Just what is it that would quell any question. Ask 10 people that witness the same event and see if all 10 have exactly the same take on the event...they won't What one sees, hears, observes, another may not. What one feels is the most important aspect, another may feel something else is the most important point. Much of the Bible was inspired by the Lord. Other parts were written by witnesses or possibly those relating things told them by witnesses. It's pretty well the same thing today. A newspaper article of the same event may differ from one paper to another. It isn't uncommon to find a statement at the bottom of the article stating that portions of the account were contributed by (name the other source/s) There isn't all that much difference in the way things were written back then as they are written today.

I have proof in my heart. The things in the Bible are coming true, but people don't except that. Science and other things will try to put a different meaning to the things that are happening, but read the Bible, it will bear out the truth. I pray for understanding when I read the Bible. And God gives it to me. Do you have proof and can you be so certain that the Bible is not the actual truth of God?

There are lot of contradictions in the Bible. I am just going to quote and describe only 5 of them.
1) According to the Bible, Book of Genesis
Chapter 1, verses 11-13,
Vegetation was created on the third day along with seed-bearing grasses, plants and trees; and further on as per verses 14-19, the sun was created on the fourth day. How is it scientifically possible for the vegetation to have appeared without the presence of the sun, as it has been stated in the Bible?
It also says light is created on the first day where as the source of light 'The Sun' is created on the fourth day. How is this scientifically possible?
2)According to Bible Fowl has four legs.
Lev 11:20-21: "All fowls that creep, going upon all four, shall be an abomination unto you." Fowl do not go upon all four. There has not been any fossils of winged creatures found that has four legs. Insects do not have four feet either. So therefore, it is not very accurate in describing Zoology.
3 )"You shall not murder."
--Exodus 20:13
"Now kill all the boys. And kill every woman who has slept with a man, but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man."
--Numbers 31:17-18
4)According to Bible King James Version Job 26:11 it says the heaven is placed on pillars. It says
"The pillars of heaven tremble and are astonished at his reproof"
This may be a metaphor but does not seem very scientific.
5) Mathematical problem in the Bible: 1Chronciles 25:3 Of Jeduthun: "The sons of Jeduthun; Gedaliah, and Zeri, and Jeshaiah, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah, six, under the hands of their father Jeduthun, who prophesied with a harp, to give thanks and to praise the LORD."
When you count them there are five names, not six. Couldn't God find a chronicler who could count?

Faith and Science are too seperate areas of life. The bible tells you that you will never be able to prove that God exists. Religion is an act of faith.

Although Nontrinitarian beliefs continued to multiply, and among some people (such as the Lombards in the West) it was dominant for hundreds of years afterward, the Trinitarians gained the immense power of the Roman Empire. Nontrinitarians typically argue that the primitive beliefs of the Christianity were systematically suppressed (often to the point of death), and that the historical record, perhaps also including the Scriptures of the New Testament, was altered as a consequence.

Science & Man-made Religions do clash...
However, TRUE Science & ACTUAL Bible Teaching really go Hand in Hand. They do not contradict on anything.
(Where have you been?)
"Science and religion [are] no longer seen as incompatible." The Daily Telegraph, London, May 26, 1999.
There are all knds of proof. Refusal to honestly consider &/or accept it does not change the facts.

Truth is always self evident, peel away the layers and it shows up as a blinding light that makes you say:
Damn I should have seen that before.
Take creation for example Gen. 1:1 (End of creation).
now look at science and the big bang makes sense.
Religions won't teach this because it starts to make people wonder what else is false teachings.
