I would like to preserve sardines that I cook once in a while. However, I 'd like to package them in those bottles we see in the supermarket which they come in which can be sterilized. would anyone know where I can buy them in small quantities?

I've only seen sardines in cans. But if you're looking for glass jars that are 1/2 pint, pint or quart containers, our groceries, some drug stores and Target and Wal Mart stores all carry them in their canning sections this time of year. The brand names are Kerr, Ball and Mason jars that I can think of.

I hope you are using a lot of salt to preserve these sardines and if you are not I hope you realize that the only safe way to preserve these would be to pressure can in a pressure canner. As for the bottles you are referring to I am unaware unless you are talking about wide mouth tall jars. You can probably get those from any canning supply company.

If I understand the question, canning jars can be bought in most hardware stores and many grocery stores. Most places sell them both individually and by the dozen. They are inexpensive.
