For as long as the debate has gone on there have been those cynics, mainly capitalists with an agenda, who, it is said, pay tame scientists to spread disinformation as to the reasons for extreme weather patterns. These people claim that the vaguaries in the weather patterns is down to natural events i.e. an ice age coming or going.
If they are wrong the rest of us, who are not empowered, and who are mildly panicking for our childrens sake, and who are probably in the majority, will be wiped out, If we are wrong then nothing happens.
There are developing countries where the populations are not being told about climate change for political reasons, but the US is not one of them, instead the propogandists spin their lies and mock, backed up by the religious right who tell their congregations that god is on their side and there is no arguing with a believer especially if it means that their jobs are at stake.
Do our children have any chance of surviving?

Hahahahaha!
Like people are going to do anything!
They are selfish, they don't care about they next generation. Or other people. Unfortunately these are the people that 'rule the world'. And the 'normal' people that do know. They don't care either. They just want more, more, MORE! With their 4WDs and their huge TVs, and their lights on all the time.
F**king capitalists.
EDIT: James B - Gore is a hypocrite.

Now now, LRG, don't take advantage! Slim, what can I say? Your swastika needs adjustment. So then, O heavenly pot of tea, you've found this small study outside the IPCC and the rest of the mainstream, isn't that right? And you feel somehow this disproves the mainstream and vindicates the people who avoid it, correct? You base this conclusion on your mistaken belief that there has "been no discernible warming over the previous 10 years", despite the fact these years are among the warmest of the century, right? Well let me put your mind at rest. As long as the glaciers and polar ice is melting, the planet is not cooling. There will probably always be gadflies who come up with crank ideas to get attention. Lowell Ponte predicted an ice age in the 1970's and it worked a little bit. Mainstream science ignored him, the way it will ignore this guy. If you want to maintain a stable and healthy outlook on the cosmos it will help if you just ignore these type things when they come along, rather than regarding them as life-changing events.

Most people don't question that there is some kind of climate change taking place. However, in the 70s, the scare was that a new ice age was coming. And in studying weather patterns of ancient times, it becomes apparent that our planet has ALWAYS gone through heating and cooling stages.
So what should we do? Take care of the earth. Recycle, conserve resources, and for those who live on the coasts where ocean levels are rising, I would recommend getting ready for it.
The only thing I question as far as climate change is exactly how involved humans are in the change...there were climate changes before there was man, and some of them led to the extinction of various species. So we'll see what happens with this one.

Nobody denies that climate change is real. The climate has always been changing. There's been ice ages before and they've melted before. The debate is whether this warming is caused by humans and the fact is we don't know for sure. Just because Al Gore says the debate is over doesn't mean he's right. It's the global warming evangelists who have the political agenda.
Nobody's stopping you from pulling the plug on your utilities if you think it will save the planet but I notice that you choose to burn fuel to run your computer.

There is no evidence that climate change is even a bad thing. The lushest environment on earth occured when the planet was about ten degrees hotter. The Russians love global warming. They will get a sea port out of it.
When I was a kid everyone was running around saying that the earth was cooling and we were all going to freeze.

I'm not sure many deny it's happening? More are in denial that it's a result of anything mankind has done, because it's definitely happened before.
We're told that mankind is contributing to the rate of change this time. One thing for sure, change isn't always bad, but it is always an opportunity for someone.

I do not deny that the climate is changing , as it always has done and will continue to do so, but please don't think that mankind has that much to do with it, It is arrogance in the extreme to think that we are a greater force than nature!, ask the Dinosaurs, assuming you can find one!

The politicians are milking it for all they are worth.A perfect opportunity has arisen for them to exploit the situation and grab more tax from us .They are utterly shameless in their feeding frenzy and have exaggerated the effects of global warming out of all proportion. Not one of them have managed to explain exactly how paying extra taxes will stop global warming or how much it will actually cost.

The Problem is OUR CIVILIZATION --------
Our civilization will never be able to establish peace on the earth.
Our way of life requires so much consumption of natural resources that we cannot survive on our allotted share.
What we have will never be enough for us.... we will always need more and more and therefore it will be nearly impossible to live in PEACE with others.
We will always be coveting the natural resources that others have in their possession. Oil, gas, gold, uranium - the list goes on and on like we have been told our wars will go on and on.
We are constantly in need of more and more natural resources so we will either acquire it through trade or if our economy cannot sustain that then we will end up resorting to ARMED THEFT (invasions) like a drug addict.
In reality, the Earth cannot sustain our civilization and way of life for long.
