Is it possible to grow crops in mexico??

Question

I'm pretty sure it is possible, but I cannot find any literature on the net about it. Anyone know? Can you link me to anything?? Thankss

no its not possible! crops in mexico? get out of here. but seriously they grow tobacco corn of course beans rice grain flour if they didnt grow those they wouldnt have anything to eat! no burritos enchilladas tacos quesadillas because they are all pretty much made from the same stuff

Not only possible, it's done. Mexican produce has a different season and much of our winter produce does come from South of the Border.

Oranges, lettuce and onions are some of the crops. I know there are others. We think of Mexico as being mainly desert, but it has a varied topography and can produce all the food it needs.

(I live in Texas. We've eaten a lot of Mexican produce.)

I agree with Warren. It is the home of Corn and they did domesticate the Turkey. We get alot of our produce in California from Mexico and send our best east for sale. We get green onions, Strawberries, tomatoes and some other vegetables and fruits from there. Their farms are having trouble competing with the heavily subsidized American farms. OUr farmers are better educated and have better access to technology, and therefore can bleed more products per acre than a Mexican farm

You would have to desalinize the water first, which means take the salt out of the water. That is a pretty expensive process right now, although I've heard that in some places, mainly in the MIddle East, they're already starting to do that a little bit.
