I accept a girl's offer to pay her half of the dinner bill when I already offered to cover the entire thing?

Was it a polite offer or did she really insist. I mean, if you accepted the offer straight after she had offered (first time) then yeah, that is being a bit of a cheap skate. If she really insisted on paying half then thats fair enough.

No, accepting her offer doesn't make you a cheap-skate, but it might make her see you as a spineless wimp. If you invited her to dinner, even just as friends, then pay for it. Period. (You might have an out clause if *she* invited you to go out. In which case, she should be willing to cover the entire event, but you might want to have some cash on hand just in case. This isn't necessarily the most traditional dating scenario, but traditionally the guy does the asking anyway.)

At any rate, if you've offered to cover the check, politely but firmly decline her counter-offer to share the cost while deftly completing your transaction with the waitstaff or cashier. If she presses the issue, tell her that even though you'd be happy to let her pay you back by picking up the check on your next outing, this time is on you.

Thusly does the modern man respect a woman's independence while flexing his own studly man-muscles. If a woman offers to pay based on her sense of fair play, you're probably going to get a second date. If she offers because she doesn't want to "owe" you anything later in the evening. Well, you've wasted a few bucks on a date that went nowhere, but at least you've still got your dignity.

No. It means you're not going to make the situation awkward when she makes an offer. Of course, if you already offered you might just want to restate it and if she persists, then accept. If she keeps doing it on future dates just let her know that it's OK to let you pay for the entire meal and STOP TRYING TO STEAL YOUR BALLS!

If you are on a date and she keeps on insisting on paying her share, then she is not interested in you.

If she is your girlfriend, u should be paying......anyway, seldom does girlfriend insists on paying their share.

For normal girl-friends / colleagues, that's alright.

absolutely not. it can mean you are fortunate. it can also mean she doesn't want to owe you a favor... or it could mean she's testing to see if you'll insist on paying.

Next time if anything like this worries you, ask her on the spot and discuss and clarify it.
