When people stand before kings and queens, as a sign of respect, they bow, how about while praying to the King of kings?

People think prayer in Islam is ritual, but fail to see that everything we do in prayer is to Praise God and humble ourselves before Him, OUTWARDLY and in our hearts.

Jesus fell on his face...... prostrated.
The Prophets washed their feet before prayer also.
Two things the Muslims do.

It is quite clear that bowing and prostration show great respect and prayers have to be like that. As for those who answered, it is in their heart, I really wonder, how many times, they remember God or is it only when, they are in need or great despair.
And you can never answer a king or a president that u didnt bow him or didnt salute him becasue u respect him in ur heart and it is not necessary to show by action.
However, Islam has taught us to thank Him, both in happiness and in sorrow, 5 times a day.
For the one, who is in hospital, God knows ur condition, and He is the Most - Forgiving. He has granted easy way for prayer, i.e., the person can sit and pray or bow just little or if the condition is too worsed, can pray while lying on the bed itself.

what is important to realize is that prayer is a two way conversation with God.
Adam prayed in garden - when he spoke with God.
Conversation can take many different forms. Do you remember begging something from your dad as a kid? Or do you remember laying down reasons for getting your first car/watch while sitting at the table in front of him? Same principals apply here.
Jesus prayed in many different ways.
It is very important not to put religious customs around praying: if i kneel towards mecca, then my prayer is answered, if i bow 300 times, and pray to St. John this and that will hpnd. Does not work like it.
Prayer is a communication with a living God who is not in mecca, who is not printed on the icon, not a statue. He is always there to help you, He is always there next to you.
I found that depending on where I am in my life, and what need is, I could kneel, or I could jump from joy. I often find myself walking though - this way my body is busy doing something, and I can concentrate on the subject. But I am not limited in any way - prayer is not a custom, it is a discussion with living God.
Also, very important to remember that when Jesus died, there were some very specific events that took place in the Temple: veil was torn in two, allowing everyone direct access to God. Not through muhammed, not through "God's Mother", but through Jesus, and Jesus alone.
So, to summarize: prayer is not something you should do same way time after time: it might get boring to God. Prayer is an intimate conversation with someone who is alive, and therefore should be viewed as one. You don't talk to you dad in prostration, do you?

Your private inner place is STILL BEST. Between you and your god. How YHWH sees it is what matters. Not what some religious founder says. Besides your men and women face away from each other , we ALL know why. But the question is WHY? Lastly our God wants something better than an outward show of respect. QUESS. Now I ask you, is it really wize to just critise eachother's way of worship? So the answer is NO!

Protestants lower their heads when they pray but stand when they sing. Prayer is how we talk to God and singing is giving praise to God. We do not have to humble because that is the way that we are suppose to be all the time.

i actually dont see anything wrong with standing up or sitting while praying... as long as one is praying whole heartedly and honestly.. does it really matter? but i also agree with you.. its also a little bit better to kneel when you pray. its what i do personally. i think it shows more reverence to God. Its more respectful.. i guess i can say. hey.. as long as were in the presence of God.. its all good... right?

A lot of people are physically unable to do these things. I certainly couldn't while in hospital. I don't think God is too bothered by your physical position but more by what's in your mind.

You can bow, prostrate, stand, sit, or whatever. There is no set way to pray.
