I don't know what flowers would be good for a May wedding. For all of you who have given me advice on my other wedding questions, we postponed the wedding to May so we can save up more and have more options, and so my fiance can save enough to get moved into an apartment so we don't come home to my sister's house!
I need to know any and all flowers that would be good for a wedding on the coast. Thanks!!

You could try mini carnations and accent them with other flowers, if you'd like. Carnations come in almost any color you can think of and can easily be dyed, so you can match your wedding colors very easily, they are very inexpensive, and the original naturally grown, mini variety has a very high fragrance which is very, very sweet. I prefer the white and light pink varieties (just my own personal preference), my mother used to grow them in her garden when I was growing up because I liked them so much and she would pick one and place it in a vase and the whole kitchen would smell beautifully for weeks. Oh yes, they also don't wilt for a very long time, so longevity is a nice factor too. If you are having an outdoor wedding, even something somewhat casual, you could even use this flower with spring and ribbons, is simple bouquets, it is very versatile. I have seen it used in many ways, and it is often used in wedding bouquets instead of roses.

Here's a link showing flowers available for each season: http://weddings.about.com/od/weddingflowers/a/Season.htm

Inquire w/ a few local florists & a nearby flower mart about costs for each kind of flower & what they recommend.

BTW, I suggest going w/ modern, minimalist arrangements because they look elegant & can save you money.

e.g. A rectangular vase filled w/ water & 1 colorful orchid stem.

A simple bouquet of long stemmed daffodils tied w/ a white ribbon.

I'm getting married in May and I'm having peonies, roses, freesia, and stephanotis. But I live in the midwest, so not sure if flowers are the same.
