Hi , Thats a great question as it exposes the immaturity and lack of sensible reasoning from many religions.

The Bibles account of creation in Genesis talk about creative days.
These days are not literal 24 hour days that we have , rather they are periods of time.

Some religions insist that they are earth type days and then use a scripture that says ¨a day is like a thousand years with God¨.
So that is their basis for coming up with 6,000 years.

Unfortunately , work days are not fixed in length.
Yesterdays I had a terrible work day , 11 hours long , but today it will be only 3 hours long.
Likely you know of other examples of peoples work days being different length to mine.

As the almighty God Jehovah doesn't live on a planet with day and night cycles , and is not limited in power and get tired like humans do , he doesn't need to sleep.

Therefore his work days can be millions or billions of years long if needed to accomplish a task.

This is the case here.

When you realize that there are no limits to what God can do , the creation account in Genesis can harmonize with what scientist say about the age of the universe.

If our world is only 6000 years old , we are able to see objects 13 billion light-years away because they're visible during these 6000 years of our planet.

The Bible tells the history of earth, not focusing on the creation of the universe...but we know our Creator God made the universe too!

Are you claiming that the bibles says the universe / earth is only 6000 yrs old? The bible teaches no such thing. Only those who are ignorant of Gods word , those with no discernment or those that know better but have an agenda would make that allegation.

Moreso, we've seen supernovas well over 6000 light years distant that would have exploded before the universe was created. SN1987A's distance can be measured directly because 10 years later, the supernova flash illuminated its planetary nebula.

where the hell do you get your information, uummm... the universe is a hell of a lot older than 6000 years, for gods sake the planet is a hell of a lot older than 6000 years and is considered a baby by universe standards. why don't you actually try to educate yourself on the information you plan on using when asking a question, you only end up looking stupid, like here for example.

kz: I am a Christian and I do not subscribe to the notion, that the Universe is only, "6000 years old" - this is not supported by the Bible, either.

What has distance to do with time?

2007-09-24 19:38:12 · answer #9 · answered by Anonymous · 0 2

How do you know these things are that far out there? Because someone told you? Because you read it somewhere? Or did you actually measure the distance yourself?

To believe such a figure to be fact simply by reading it, takes more blind faith than that required to be Christian. Besides, who told you Christians believe the universe is only 6000 years old?
