i wonder , if the Lord would be on here? seems like people want to argue & run you down. why cant we just ask questions to each other? & encourage one another? &

like when you answer 1 queston & scroll on down & there's more contradictioners & bashers.

Not good for nervous , anxious people i dont think, it's not "fellowship" why is there so much negativity??
is this not a place where people can respect one another?

Yes. I don't like it when Christians bash Atheists. Nor do I like it when Atheists bash Christians. I have seen some pretty nasty, hateful remarks made here from both sides. If you want to put your belief (or disbelief) forward, that is all well and good. But there is no need for the amount of blatant ridicule and animosity that shows up in these postings. My quote always, "Teach, don't preach, " and that goes for both Christians and Atheists alike.

I also find using R&S discouraging because there are a lot of people on here who post answers just to upset people and criticize other people's faiths, whether they be Christians, Jews, Muslims, etc. It's getting harder and harder to find genuine and caring people on here. It seems as though R&S is being overrun by God-hating people who only want to bring down others. Since people are sitting alone behind a computer screen they feel invincible, like they can say whatever they want and not have to suffer any consequences (like a broken nose). Out of all the categories on Yahoo! Answers, this section seems to be filled with the most cruel and rude people. This just goes to show you that Satan is alive and well, but not for long.

People need to get a thicker skin. The internet is full of trolls and bored people. If you have a strong belief, you should stand up for it and expect that other people will not agree with you. They might attack you or ridicule you for it...big deal. Internet comments made by people you don't know shouldn't shake your faith, I wouldn't think.
It would be nice if folks were polite to one another, but this is the online world and not real life, people can get away with much more. Plus this is the R&S area, where tempers in general run high.

This is the Faith & Values section. (all faiths, all values or lack thereof) I agree that when we ask or answer a question directed to Christians, we should be able to get respectful responses, but everyone is allowed to put in their 2 cents regardless if the question is directed at their faith. I too wish everyone would just say their opinion respectfully and not with so much malice. (We Christians are not without sin as well, I have seen several people who claim to be Christians lose their cool and lash back.) This is generally not a place for fellowship because it is open to any and all to ask and answer.
Just keep treating others with respect. Don't let them shake you.
Keep a list of all the unsaved, bitter people who need prayer and pray for them.
In His Service, Sandra

Hi Dorothy H. Yes, there seems to be a lot of Christian bashing that goes on in Yahoo R&S, but that should be no surprise to those who are true believers. But God tells us we should not be like them. We should spread the Gospel to them. In Matthew 5:46-47 God tells us:

“ For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47 And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so?”

Unfortunately, this is a loosely moderated, anonymous forum dominated by young, computer-savy people. So, you get the occasional Q and A that actually represents what Yahoo Answers is hoping to acheive, but most of time you get angry, resentful people who actually enjoy hurting feelings, making people look stupid, or getting 12 thumbs-up for firing off a good insult.

I for one appreciate the Christian bashing and persecution. It's the only actual persecution I get and how am I going to be blessed if I am not persecuted.? Blessed are the persecuted and blessed are ye when men say all kind of nasty and untrue things about you because of your faith. That's the main reason I come here. Why can't America be more like the middle east?

Sending you a smile to help pick up your day.

Dorothy any place is a good place to respect one another. However here the cloak of anonymity is thick and hides the hateful well in the dark.
The Christ Himself told us Christians that when someone calls us down, persecutes us, and generally destroys us as best they can that we are not to worry about it. It isn't us they are against, but our Lord The Christ is what they are against.
On the streets in the light of the day we are cursed, rebuked, and slandered. It's no wonder we get it so heavily here on the Internet, anonymity is a great shield for the faithless.

Religion & Sprituality is not limited to Christianity. There are people of all religions who have been hurt, they will lash out with their pain and anger. It's human nature. Once the indiviual is past their pain, then we can reach out to help them. But they need their time to get past the pain before anyone can help.

It kinda got to me at first, but then I realized that this must have been how it was for Jesus and for the disciples. Jesus said that if they hated Me they are going to hate you. To realize that when they attack me for being a Christian they are actually attacking Christ, gave me a whole different perspective. Count it all joy to be hated for Christs sake. In other words there's enough of Christ in you to provoke these types of behaviors. If you are a (professing)Christian who believes homosexuality is o.k. and that you don't need to go to church, and that every one is going to heaven, they won't have a problem with you.In the midst of all the ridicule, there actually is some fellowship. Remember that Jesus said that the gates of hell shall not prevail against His church. Persecution is nothing new. Christianity tends to grow and become stronger in the face of it, so hunker down and grow. God bless!!
