Did you guys see part of that speech on the news?
I think the poor guy totally got himself laughed at the moment he opened his mouth, LOL. Among many ridiculous comments that were laughed at, he made a total fool of himself when the audience booed and laughed when he made the statement "we have no homosexuals in Iran like you have in your countries."
Granted that for sure, if someone in the audience were to voice an outcry, hurl an insult/epithet/comment, they would be removed from the auditorium by security, what would you say in the middle of that audience right when he's making the speech? As in you actually just stand up and yell it out loud?
I think that I would just stand up and randomly yell out: "Madness? THIS IS SPARTA!!!!!!!" To which the auditorium erupts in laughter and I get myself removed by security.
So what would you do? Would you just sit there and listen to the weirdo or would you break up the monotonous BS that he's preaching about and just do something funny?

Yeah, that Sparta comment is good. I probably would have made a comment that if we had as many camels and goats as they did, we wouldn't have homosexuals.

Double -Tap to the head. No words needed.
And to the responder above me, who is the "we" that invited him here? I damn sure didn't ask this little midget to come into my country! The "open-minded" president of Columbia U ask him here. This is what he had to say about the invitation:
President Lee Bollinger of Columbia University is a very open-minded guy, in his own opinion. In inviting the Iranian prime minister Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to speak at Columbia, he issued this statement. "Columbia, as a community dedicated to learning and scholarship, is committed to confronting ideas...Necessarily on occasion this will bring us into contact with beliefs that many, most of even all of us will find offensive and even odious. We trust our community, including our students, to be fully capable of dealing with these occasions, through the powers of dialog and reason."
This is the same man who, despite the expressed wishes of the students, refused to allow ROTC back on campus. Why? The military "don't ask, don't tell" policy. Which, BTW, is a lot more tolerant of homosexuality then the country of Iran, where gays are beaten and killed. So we must listen to views we don't agree with, as long as Bollinger says we have to. Hypocrisy in the purest form.

There is allot I could say about what happened today. I am going to try to explain to you what I can, so that you can understand.
I thought he was a very eloquent speaker. In the end he had people clapping.
I know it's hard for you to believe that people are not gay in his country but picture this... once in this country men would rather become a priest or marry a woman then to show that they were gay. He does not have issues with gay men or woman because religion is first in his country and it would not be accepted. If some one in his country were gay they would rather die then let any one know because of how they are raised and there religion.
I am sure that he has his share of lies just as Mr. Bush does.
We are supposed to be the leaders in the right to free speech.
We invited him here then talked badly about him during an introduction, and then CNN cut him off during part of his introduction. The part of his introduction I did hear, he was very polite and spoke mostly on universities, knowledge and the importance of keeping open lines of communication.
If you had listened to him and was reading between the lines you would understand what is most important and comes first in his country… God!! He is driven by religion just as Mr. Bush when he stated that God told him to go to war.
I am not saying that either is right but he was polite and decent much more then Columbia U.
In my world you do not invite some one to your home to have a debate and greet them with insults before the debate begins.
No wonder we are at war!!!!!
Again I am not saying he was right!! The point is we were not showing what the USA stands for.

I would sit and listen to what else the jack@$$ has to say. He did make a total fool of himself. He is a very smug man, like No one else matters and the U.S. People are dirt compared to Iranians. Please, they have no homosexuals in his country, there are, he just doesn't know about it OR refuses to see it. The guy needs to go back to Iran ASAP.

I think we're ALL paying WAY too much attention to that stupid little man- and DIGNIFYING his foolishness by giving it to him! A year from now- he will be HISTORY; and we'll all STILL be threatend by the dangerous activities of the Bush Administration... We're taking our eyes off of what's Important here, people... & that's EXACTLY what Bush & Cheney -want... :(
