What percentage of the Georgia lottery goes to the company vs education?

Its actually only 5% of the total state funds. However, that 5% is quite a bit - its the State's third largest income source.

My answer is nearly 25%.

I arrived at this percentage after reading the below information at the Georgia Lottery's web site as stated by their president:

"GLC sales for fiscal year 2007 exceeded $3.42 billion and proceeds to education totaled $853 million. This brings the total raised for educational programs in the state of Georgia to more than $9.3 BILLION since the lottery's inception in 1993. "

1/3to education so 33 1/3%. 1/2 or 50% is paid out in prizes and the remainder which would be 16 1/3% goes to operating expenses (the Company)

of each dollar for a lottery ticket 50 cents goes to pay out of prize pool....25 cents goes to educational fund....and 25 cents goes to the company running the lottery....in 2007 so far 3.54 billion has been spent with roughly 854 million going to education
