Lighting a Darkness

In the sky, clouds cover the sun.
Darkness arrives, light is on the run.
Shadows tear at enlightened hope,
Hearts begin to break, unable to cope.
Voices cry out for angelic love,
Smoke covers the white of the dove.
Just when blackness seems to win,
Prayer are heard, salvation begins.

well, the rhythm is a bit off, but the couplets rhyme charmingly and the sentiment is pretty much true. Very much a reflection of modern times. Reminds me of the Valley of the Shadow of Death.

When the last leaf is blown from my life's tree
will the wind be accused of killing me?

(or will it be your poem?)
