Receiving a one or two hang up calls each month is probably nothing to worry about, but when those calls increase in frequency and if it happens in the middle of the night then you must do something to stop it, before it starts affecting your life. If you are applying as a law enforcement officer they will mainly ask questions about your past. Questions such as; what type of individual were you in school, home, with neighbors, and with friends. They will ask about your hobbies or any habits you might have had when you were younger. Other questions will be direct questions such as; has he ever been arrested before, do you know if he did drugs, and is he a heavy drinker. Some departments even go as far as going to your old schools and reviewing your school records, attendance, and any disciplanary actions that might have been taken against you. Teachers will also be interviewed as well as ex-classmates.

I have many questions that I ask. More importantly, I'm going to get the names of 2 others to talk to. You listing personal references means you probably like them and they like you. They are not going to give me the "truth" about you that I am looking for. So, I get a couple other names and ask them some questions. After I peel back a few layers, I will typically find out about the type of person you are. This is where I make my report from. Specific questions.......to many varieties to list. Just know that if you lied about something, I'll find out. Good Luck!!

They questions vary by agency, but most backgrounds are 20-30 page packets. Be expected to answer questions about your family, where you lived, everywhere you have worked, your education history (including discipline), your personal finances and credit history, driving history, criminal history, drug use, and every contact with the police. Be open and honest, nothing will fail you faster then them finding something that you failed to disclose.

My BG officer spoke to each of my buddies in my old military unit. They said he asked 2 questions.
1. Does he makes friends easily?
2. If he were in a use of force situation, could he stop himself when he had used enough force?
That was it.
