I want to be a tattoist or a peircer or both, and im wondering how to get into that field. For tattooing, can you buy a tattoo gun and practise on the practice skin untill you feel your good enough to have a go on someone daring enough to let you or is there more too it? And peircing, is ther a course that you do? If it helps, im in Australia.

Get a portfolio together of all of your best drawings.
Make a duplicate of your portfolio, I can't even begin to describe how much it sucks to lose your only copy.
Take your portfolio to local tattoo parlors, and ask to do an apprenticeship.
You will get turned down A LOT.
Nobody really wants an apprentice, and everybody wants to be one.
You have to just keep trying until somebody takes you.
Good luck.

there are no good courses for either, and none are approved of by most piercers. basically, you have to become an apprentice (and to be a tattooist, you need a good art background, if you can't draw on paper you shouldn't be drawing on skin!) technically you could just buy a gun, but i can't imagine you'd be much good without training

I think for tattooing you do a traineeship style of thing. for piercing you can do courses, i nearly did one a couple of years ago but i can't remember if it was through tafe or a beauty college
