Nothing fits quite as much as pining.
If you are pining for something or someone it's the deepest kind of longing you can have. Sort of like you not being complete without them.

Pining consumes you and you don't do anything except lose yourself in the moment, that moment could just be a thought or an idea and you can lose yourself for hours even days.

I think of the word yearning. Pining would probably be more accurate as far as description though. But i always describe myself as yearning........

yearn - to have an earnest or strong desire; long
languish- to pine with desire or longing

here are some more synonyms you may want to consider...
crave, desire, feel loss, long, need, pine...
