I had a VERY difficult time when my dad passed away...he was 65 and very healthy, a Christian for 35+ years, spent the 5 months before he died on an Indian Reservation as a missionary, been married to my mom for 42 years, and was just an all around great guy!! He went into the hospital for a minor surgery which was not done and never came out of the hospital!! I could NOT understand WHY God would call him home so soon! Not to mention I missed him like CRAZY!!! I was given a book called, "Within Heavens Gates", written by Rebecca Springer and what a difference this little book made to me. It was like for the first time I got just a glimpse of what my dad might be doing now and it gave me such a peace to know that I would get to see him again someday =) Please try to get yourself a copy of this book and know that God cares about the way that you are feeling and He wants to love on you in this difficult time. E-mail me after you have read the book and I will share something that happened a few months after my dad went 'home' to be with Jesus that will help you believe what God has for us =)

I am so sorry to hear about your Grandfather. I will be praying for you and your family.
My wife's Grandmother is dying of Cancer, and I know how much it hurts. I will tell you what I told her.
The Bible never refers to the death of one of God's children as a final event. In fact, the analogy to going to sleep is often used in the new testament. Now going to sleep implies that one will wake up, and the bible clearly states this throughout.
When we die, our spirit is with God, and we wait for the resurection to life in a better state. after the resurection, we will be together with our faithful family and loved ones. Therefore death, while scary from the point of view of being the end of this stage of life, is not the end of our existence. You can still see your grandfather again.
Now for proof, I honestly cant say. It depends. There is no scientifically testable quantity, however there is evidence.
I have heard one Philosopher state that the fact that all humans look foe eternaty/immortallity is evidence that eternaty is built into te human soul. I believe this.
But more importantly is the evidence that God is there in our lives and in our world. He is trustworthy. No matter what you go through, whether you believe in him or not, he is still there, and he believes in you, and loves you. He will not let you down if you trust in him. And trusting in him is also trusting in his word to us that is found in the bible.
It is hard. I know. But hang in there. There is an old spiritual that goes "after you've done all you can , just stand"
If it gets too hard, just stand, and let the Heavenly Father take care of you. He can and will, and wants to.
God bless you,
Drew

I was nine when my grandmother died of cancer. I was too young to be with her in the hospital. She was a dear saint of God and I am looking forward to seeing her again, soon.
She was as dear to me as anyone I have ever known.
The only proof we have of life after death, is the word of God.Jesus said, I go to prepare a place for you, that where I am you may be also. Think about those words, Jesus said He was going to "prepare" a place. That means, he is going to have to spend some time making the place ready. God who spoke the world into existence is going to "prepare" a place for me, and you, and your grandmother. Isn't that great?
At this point in your life, you need to dwell in your thoughts on the good memories. Don't ever forget the good things. Then as you grow older, keep her in your heart, and one day, you will be together again. God Bless you.
