I understand your frustration. It's hard being 11. I work for an optometrist and we have children as young as 10 years old wearing contacts. There is no certain age that you can start to wear them. It really just depends on the person and how responsibile they are. Contacts take work and require more care than a pair of eyeglasses. Maybe you should talk to your dad and see about getting a free trial pair just to see how you can handle them. Most eye doctors will do an exam on you to see what type of contacts you should be wearing and then they will give you a free trial pair just to see how they work for you. Maybe this will be a way to determine if you will be able to handle contacts or not. Or your dad may just not be ready for you to grow up just yet. Have patience it will happen one day!

theres no age for contacts u know. if u want to wear contacts then just wear it but mind it if ur dad is asking u not to wear it then dont coz he wants ur good and its true that people shouldnt wesr contacts at a very young age its wrong.just listen to him ok ull have time for everything later ok and the glasses r not annoying at all they r great and ull have problems with contacts u kniw at the beginning so why do such a thing and also u dont have to wear contacts if ur friends r wearing .be different .its just lke u dont have to jump from the building if ur friends r jumping from it.
goodluck!

As long as you are old enough to do proper care and washing, cleaning etc of the contacts. Then you are old enough to wear contacts,The chance of eye infection is greater with contacts than glasses.

I have really bad eyes. My eye doctor told my dad that having hard lenses would help keep my eyes in the proper shape so that my vision wouldn't get worse as fast as it had been. I was 14 when my eye doctor recommended contacts.

yes maybe your dad doesnt want you to wear contact this early because after a few years of wearing them yuo need to give yor eyes a break to breath. maybe yur dad doesnt want his little girl to grow up so fast?? the slightest change can do it. glasses are just fine i think you should wate a couple more years.. they are alot of hassle too

I actually got my first contacts when I was in the 8th grade (age 14). I guess it depends on your maturity level. Contacts are expensive.

Your dad makes the rules, ask him when you can get contacts. It's up to him.

I would suggest you get a paper route, do babysitting or other things to earn money and offer to pay for them yourself.

That may change his mind.
