I have an American Pit Bull Terrier. I fell in love with the breed when I was volunteering at the Humane Society when I was in high school. They are perfect for me. They are loyal, sweet, friendly, and SO forgiving. An abused pit bull would come in all broken and bleeding, but still have the energy to wag their tail and give you a kiss. I love their size, energy level, short coat, and loving nature.
I adopted my American Pit Bull Terrier from that same Humane Society I volunteered at. I had been looking for a Pit Bull for a long time. I came across this beautiful adult female in the very back. She was sitting in her cage, ignoring all the other dogs who were barking. She was quiet, and when you spoke to her she would look at you and wag her tail. When I took her outside she was focused on me, and would play with me, but wan't overly excited. So I made my decision and took her home. She is the BEST dog I could ever ask for!!!

I have 4 Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. I chose the breed after meeting Henry Winkler's (The Fonz) Blenheim Cavalier "Monty". I was working at a grooming shop back in 1997. He was the sweetest dog and fell in love with him. Since him i had met 20 more Cavaliers in my 10 year Career and thought they were so Adorable but never could afford to buy one. But 2 years ago we bit the bullet and went for it and purchased our first Cavalier from our Vet. Then one year later the Vet gave me a Second Cavalier. Then 6 months later i was working at a pet store and a customer mentioned she needed to find a home for her Cavalier. So i bought him that day without any hesitation. I have since bred 2 of my Cavalier together and they made the most adorable puppies. We only have one puppy left and he's 12 weeks old. He is so smart. We began potty training when he was 5 weeks old and he has picked it up fast.

Pound puppies are the best, they need rescuing from a terrible fate. Besides, mutts have less health problems then purebreds. They come with all their shots and neutered or spayed. My daughter has a pound puppy, his name is Stanley-he is part Great Dane and who knows what else, very loyal dog.
I had a dog as a child that was a stray, we posted everywhere, but the owner did not claim the dog, Duchess was her name, she was a little Dachshund mix, hounds like to run though, so if you want a dog that likes to stick around get a herding dog-I have a Sheltie, his name is Boy, so if he were to get lost, he would always feel welcome, "Here Boy, come here Boy" is all he will ever here. Plus his girlfriend's name is Scout....Boy....Scout, get it?
If you want to see if having a dog will work out for you and your situation you could foster a dog. We are fostering a dog for a soldier in Iraq-I didn't even have to think of his name, although it is a great name Papi Chulo, he is a Westie Terrier-good dog for sure.

My boyfriend and I have a Border Collie. We chose the breed in general because we wanted an intelligent, capable companion who would enjoy coming with us when we go running and cycling; and who would extend our athletic interests (we intend to start her in agility training once she's four months old). We also wanted a dog who would be willing to interact with us by inventing new games and keeping the woodchuck population down in the garden!
We chose our puppy in particular because she had a most unusual personality: she was friendly in a tolerant, aloof sort of way when with her siblings, but very calm and cuddly when she was with only us. She was the smallest of her litter and the most strikingly colored, and she has the most wonderful pair of soulful, mismatched eyes. Her breeder is actively involved in the ABCA and is outspoken in support of the working and temperament characteristics of the breed, and is highly regarded by everyone I have spoken to, who knows anything about New England Border Collie breeders.
Our baby is growing up to be a happy, active girl who is the center of our lives. We could not have made a better choice.

Skye is a very mixed-breed - think greyhound build, shepherd face (with one ear standing and one flopped over), and border collie coloring & fur. Her mother was a small black lab (a mix, most likely).
I guess she kind of picked me. After I said hello to her the first time, she continued to stare at me with that 'take me!' look on her face the whole time I walked around looking at the other dogs. I also took her because she was so unappealing - past the cute puppy stage, matted, dirty, skinny, and she'd already been in the shelter for a couple of weeks.

My puppies were both adopted, and that's kinda why I chose them (both at 8 weeks old). Along with them being the cutest! I found them both on petfinder.com and their faces were just the cutest things you could ever see. Bailey is my boy and he is all white, with one black eye. didn't know his breed when he was first adopted... but Get this, he is a border collie/jack russell mix! and he's definitely jack russell personality!!!
My little girl is named Rylee. She is a brindle color. we got her about a month after Bailey. Her mom was a full bred american bulldog, but we don't know what the dad was. We think a boxer mix. She is just the sweetest! loves everyone and everything...
they actually both turned out to be about 55 pounds now at a year and a half old!
do you have dogs?

I have 2 female Pomeranians. I chose that breed for these reasons:
1. I love toy breeds
2. I wanted a lap dog
3. I love to groom (I should have been a groomer)
4. I wanted a nicer dog. I had a Min Pin previously and she was quite aggressive.
5. Why I chose her specifically is I fell in love with her at first sight.

I have three dogs. Pit Bull I adopted from a shelter . All she had to do was give me that big ole pit grin (puppy pit grin actually) and I was hooked. My friend works at the shelter and had told us about her, we were looking for the perfect dog anyway. Best friend ever, even tho she's a bit crazy (in a good way)
Fiest mix I rescued myself out of another dogs mouth. She was so pitiful. but took her to the vet & patched her up. I beleive she remembers because she just looks at me sometimes and smiles (no joke),
also have a Golden boy , his other family was not treating him good so we were nice to them( took all we had to be) and talked them into letting us keep him. Got him going in the right direction now. He and my hubby has this man dog thinge going on now.

I have Chinese Cresteds.
I wanted a small dog, but wanst sure what breed.. I didnt really want a terrier, I didnt really want something that was "too frou-frou", I wanted something different.. that loved being cuddled and petted.
After searching different breeds, I discovered this breed. The more I read, the more I fell in love. I HAD to have one! I reasearched and found a reputable breeder... which is where I got my boy from. My female came from a friend who could no longer keep her due to divorce.

Our dogs are chihuahuas. We chose them (at first) because my 11 year old son has wanted one since he was 3 years old. We also chose them because they are small, clean, and very affectionate. It is so much easier to take them with us when we have to leave town than it would be to have to take a larger dog. They are also very smart and obedient. They make such great companions that they feel almost like family members. They also make great burglar alarms. I can rest easy at night knowing that no one could even think of breaking into OUR house. We would know of their presence before they even made it all the way up the driveway. They are also very nice to our cat. They play with him as if he were another chihuahua.
