Fate in my view is something that you can change. I don't know if you ever watched the charmed ones but the one sister phoebe could see the future of other people's lives. And so her and her sister's would try and changet that person's fate. Like if they were going to die or something. They usually would get there in time to protect them and usually that person can live on.
But with destiny as most people get fate and destiny confused. Destiny is pretty much something that is going to happen anyway. Just like with a prince that will become king when his father dies. For some royalty however there are some people like several seats from taking the throne. So the direct heir from the current king or queen with naturally be destined to take his or her place after they pass on. I mean there is no getting around that fact, unless something were to happen to the heir. Hopefully this helps you understand both terms better.
