Ok.. I'm doing a slideshow on Juan Luna and I am covering one of his works - Tampuhan. What is the english term for tampuhan?.. I want to know what it means just in case someone asks for it... I live in California, which means they really might ask for the translation. thanks!

ok. I remember I sent an answer to this one. Either I'm seeing double, or my brain is really in need of an overhaul.

It would be nice to have the sentence where you would use the word. If it's between lovers, then it might be paraphrased as "lovers quarrel".

If it is something like what transpired between A.Luna and J.Rizal over some girl in Europe, then perhaps "slighted feelings" could be proper.

Tampuhan...tampo, they're related words. They both mean something along the lines of sulking. Like let's say you reallllly wanted to go to the football game with you friends [assuming you're a teenager] and your dad driving you was the only way you could get there. And for some reason he prioritizes something else and isn't able to take you. You'd feel really mad, wouldn't you? You probably will feel mad enough to not speak to him for days, or make him feel guilty or something like that. That's what tampo is, at least from what I can gather from my parents.

The closest translations are.... misunderstanding , offended ,and sulk.
Tampuhan is when you are upset with another person. But you hold the feeling.
Most of the time you give the person concerned a cold treatment just to send him the message that you didn`t ike what he did..... john sulked or Mary and Stan had a misunderstanding.... or I was offended by your joke......
It`s usually something that is repairable.
