well most [not all] Christians feel it is their duty to go door to door and let people know Jesus is God...I have had kids come to more door telling me Jesus exists and he is God...they never even took a moment to ask me what I may believe in or even if I'd even care to hear what they had to say...as soon as I open the door they babble on about Jesus...it's rude and needs to be stopped...they already send loads and loads of church flyer's in mailboxes isn't that enough? if i want to know more about the religion I would take World Religions [Yes I have taken this class!] and if I was really interested I would enter the church myself and talk to someone at the church...so why the need for those people to shove it down my throat at my own front door or while I am at the cash register!? I don't know any other religious groups that do this apart from Jehovah's Witnesses...but Christians do it way more then the JW's...
oh and they don't leave when you ask them too...I've tried this they still chatter on even when you close the door or look at your next customer in line...

It does seem intrusive. If a stranger comes to my door, without invitation, and preaches something I don't believe then I have a perfect right to react in an appropriate manner.
I think that this type of "witnessing" is not only wrong, but is a waste of valuable time! Valuable time that could be spent doing good for others!
How do we win others to our way of believing? By being a daily example of what we believe!! NOT by going door to door "selling" it....Blessings!

They are responding to the Great Commission (end of Mathew, I think )<> that tells all followers of Jesus to go out and make disciples of the people and spread the Good News. So,if you are fundamnealists in your faith you have a duty to convert others and they see door to door as the best way - If the mountain won't come to .. you get the picture.

I don't care as long as they come in appropriate times and take "NO" as an answer and leave me forever.
Some just don't take "NO" as an answer and they keep pushing themselves into your house. Regardless of what religion they are preaching, this is wrong and rude.
Another thing is that when you go to the park and you see them preaching loudly and handing papers and forcing conversation with others. I hate that because people go to the park to relax and have a peaceful time not to debate about religion.

YES it's wrong. Especially since they tend to show up at your door about 7:00 am on a Sunday. It's a wonder more of them don't get shot.

I have a theory. It's less about converting you than making sure they have devoted, long-term followers. Think about Mormons, for example. They send their youth on missions when they are about 20. This is just about the time that most people really start questioning their faith. I think having to constantly explain your beliefs to others makes them stronger. Just a theory...

i'm one in all Jehovah's Witnesses and that i understand the type you sense. all of us get worried as quickly as we bypass door to door. human beings do exactly not comprehend how confusing it somewhat is to stroll as much as their domicile, knock on their door, and initiate speaking to them. To do something like that's not organic to human nature, so that is extremely stressful. try practising until now-hand and be certain what you prefer to assert. determine to bypass with a Pioneer on your first door, by way of fact, in my adventure, they're the terrific at with the flexibility to p.c.. it up, have been you to get worried and ignore what to assert. they're additionally very powerful & variety in helping to loosen up you. I consistently initiate off with a "good morning! How are you?" and a grin. maximum folk will react acceptable to somebody they don't discover harsh or offensive. Then I purely bypass into my presentation... "i'm vacationing you at present to ask you a question..." or "i'm right here at present to get your opinion on something..." or purely something alongside those traces. in case you may not think of of something (have an concept of what your intro would be until now you bypass as much as the door), then ask the pioneer that your with what they could say or ask what presentation they're employing. you would be positive. in case you have a sturdy desire to evangelise Jehovah's notice then he would be with you. place self assurance in Jehovah, and he will supply you potential. Remeber, there is an angel with you once you bypass as much as a door. =) Oh and as for giving talks on point, an incredible variety of folk get worried. yet once you're arranged, and correctly practiced, then you need to be positive. Pray which you do properly. Jehovah won't permit you down. he will bless your efforts in being so lively interior the Ministry and interior the corridor.

Ok, so I kid...
Yes, I do find it wrong in the sense that it is uninvited, making it rude.

If christians, they are trying to do what they can to help. If JW, they think they are working their way into heaven. If Seventh Day Adventists, they also think this is necessary to get into heaven. If Moonies, they want your money.
