hey mark, i guess you can make what you want out the same news report that i read. if those aren't his plans or his thoughts, then what are they? funny, i read english quite well. my comprehension is ok. my wife says i have selective hearing, but other than my hemmorhoids burning every now and then, i am ok. i make no apologies for my take on the article.
i'm not a liar, and probably the most foolish thing i did today was to read and respond to your post.
as i have worked for 43 yrs, 15 of them with two jobs, have two retirement accounts already, and am working for a third, i take my money seriously.

I think it's the last gasp of a lame duck with a severe legacy problem.

He tried to solve the SSI problem several years ago. But the Democrats started whining about how much revenue the treasury would lose and how giving money back to the workers so they could give more to IRAs and 401K plans was "gambling retirement funds on the stock market". You can bet that if a Democrat gets in the WH they will be raising payroll taxes just like they did in the 90s. Problem is it didn't save the system. The SSI system was doomed the minute LBJ had it prorated to pay for his Great Society programs to fight poverty. Another failure for liberals.

When it comes to his own people he couldn't care less. He also threatened to veto a bill to give children health care. Screw the old & the young. They can't go to war to push his agenda so what good are they. At the same time we are making many Iraqi's rich. We are subsidizing Iraqi construction companies. Our businesses are bribing many Iraqi government officials. So many people here are just fine with all the irregularities that are going on in Iraq(that is costing billions in USA tax money). But when it comes to our own people we resent one cent of help to them. You & I pay into Social Security all our lives. They call it an "entitlement". Your dam right it is an entitlement. we are entitled to it. Congress has robbed the fund for many years. The presidents(all of them) had no problem with that. Not one word from bush about paying for the war, $500 billion so far, but he will have to raise taxes to pay for our own peoples Social Security!!!! And he is getting the response he wants. you can see it in YA's. Divide & conquer. He is dividing his people. And we are falling for it. how many of you resents any help or "entitlement' to your neighbor? What we fail to understand that at any given time you or I might need healthcare & not have the monetary means to supply it for a reason that might be beyond our control to supply. AND, we all get old, just remember that! Young people very seldom have health issues. They don't even think about it, except to resent paying for something they don't even need(not yet anyway). As we get older our body wears out. Thats when health care becomes important. The same thing applies to Social Security. We can't all become rich & not need SS. EVEN some of us that today resent giving anyone help will need it. Remember YOU paid for SS all your life. You are entitled to it. No matter what your younger neighbor thinks. Don't be so hard on people that are less fortunate than you. A simple twist of fate can make you one of them. GASP!!!!

Social Security is a Ponzi scheme an should be abolished entirely. Get rid of it, once and for all.

Also, you have totally mischaracterized the President's proposals. You are either 1) lying, or 2) too dumb to read and understand political news

"The president is not advocating for tax increases or benefit cuts," said White House spokesman Tony Fratto.

The Government has been spending the SS contributions as soon as they come in and that has been going on for decades. The libs MANDATE that citizens contribute to programs whether they want to or not just as Hillary and Edwards want to mandate that the young buy health insurance mainly because they don't need it so that money will be used to subsidize others who do and keep the cost down for them.

How can he make cuts in benefits when he has been stealing from the Social Security Trust Fund forever, and he has been giving tax cuts to the rich. Why do the poor have to pay for a war they didn't start and a deficit they didn't increase by 4 TRILLION?

That man is nuts!

AND IT IS THEIR MONEY!!!
