Most surnames originated many centuries ago and are based on the role the person at that time had in life. For example, people whose surname is 'Fisher' are likely descendedfrom people who fished for a living, and those whose surname is 'King' are probably descnded from someone who had a position serving the local monarch.
In the case of Jewish people of European origin the surname reflects exactly that ~ the work the ancestors of the family did in some past time.
Names which contain 'stein', 'farb' and 'berg' indicate Germanic origin, so the ancestors of that family were in Germany when surnames began to be used, and were metalworkers and jewellery makers.
Cheers :-)

Names were often tied to ones Profession, for example Cooper was one that made barrels, Smith was one that worked with metals, Baker goes without need of explanation, The majority of Jews were Jewelers and were and to this day are regarded as the finest Gem cutters to be found. Thus Gold and Silver are found in their names often, also another common surname among Jews is Cohen which is a name of Rabbinical beginnings. Might I ask your last name that I may determine the craft of your ancestors? Of course the above si only one manner of determining Surnames, some were because of Geography, many have a last name that is reflective of where they are from, My last name is Paris, can you guess where my Fathers Ancestors came from? And of course then you have the Scots the word Mac or Mc before a name means son of, For Example McDonald is son of Donald. When Surnames got to Scotland often that is how the name was given it was from the eldest male of the line.
If your attempt was to create a racial profiling you failed because of a lack of knowing the manner of surname origions./May I suggest you look up surnames of those you know and see where they come from it might be time better spent than on trying to attack the Jews using what amounts to rehashed Nazi Propaganda.

They are either German or Austrian place names or professions. The people with those last names are descendants of German or Austrian Jews from the second wave of Jewish immigrants to America. The first wave of Jewish immigrants to America came from Spain and Portugal and had Spanish-sounding last names (e.g. Cardozo). The second wave came from Germany and Austria and had German last names (e.g. Goldberg). After that another wave came from Russia and Poland, with Russian sounding last names (e.g. Rabinowitz).

Jews came to this country from Europe, and were processed at Ellis Island. The name they gave you (cos they were not about to try and understand the various accents etc. of the immigrants,) was as much based on capriciousness as it was on how much you had to bribe the intake processor. For example: If you had some scratch, you were Rosewater, but if you were a little short, you were Goldwater (pee.)

My friend and I (she is Jewish) were just talking about this the other day! She didn't know why, but it also seems like the doctors that both of us go to that are the best are Jewish: Weinstein, Goldbaum and Lowenstein. Interesting question.

The Jews were always around the money and precious metals businesses.
They are very good at it.
Sometimes too good......... nations rose up and slaughtered them because they could suck a nation dry of all its wealth through their usury businesses.
They were called Vampires but in reality they were the best at what they did.
