When my financial advisor pulled up my credit report, for some reason my mom's credit report comes up instead of mine. My mom and I have very similar names, which is probably why it happened. But all of the information on the report that pulls up (my moms) correctly identifies my mom, without a mistake. How do I go about correcting it so that my report comes up when its pulled and not my mom's info?

It should come up as your information if they pull your report using your SSN instead of your name.

No offense, but your financial advisor sucks! He or she should have told you to contact the 3 credit bureaus. Equifax, Experian, and Transunion. They also have an 800 number so they can send you the required forms to dispute anything negative on your credit history report. The same happened to my brother (he has the same name as my dad.) Took quite a few months to fix, but it was taken cared of.

My dad and bro have this problem often. Make sure you give them your correct social security number and whatever update information identity wise as needed. You may find you have to go back to institutions often and say, "That's not me" but that's what happens.
