Correctional officers must be clean and it is the reason that only those who do not have records must be accepted. How can a person correct others if he himself has committed misdemeanors.

It depends on the misdemeneanor, as long as its not a violent or drug related offense, then yes. If it is any offense that would prohibit you from possessing a firearm (i.e. domestic violence of any kind) than you may not work for CDCR. You would be a Peace Officer, so you must pass the same background as any other Police Officer.

The misdemeanor itself will not exclude you.
How long ago it was, and how you handled yourself in the situation will matter more. And honesty is the most important.
Intentional deception will surely disqualify you.
Have a statement prepared on what you learned from the experience, and how your life changed because of it.

depends on what the misd. was if it is drug related then alot of time has to pass, depends on the drug
