most likely you have a fuel injected gas truck, and it cranks for along time when you start it first thing in the morning. if this is right, most likely your fuel pressure is bleeding down overnight. there is and internal check valve in the pump to hold fuel in the rail, and when they stick open, the fuel returns to the tank when shut off. when you try to start it, the fuel has to come all the way up and fill the rail again. to check for this, the next time you start it cold, turn the key on for about 5 seconds at a time, cycle it 4 or 5 times, and if it starts easier, you have a bleedoff problem. i've never seen 5.2 or 5.9 injectors bleed pressure, but if your truck is new enough to have a 4.7, the earlier ones did leak.

Could be the plugs and wires (tune-up).. The computer compensates for the failing plugs a wires and keeps the truck running until it is so bad that it can't adjust anything to compensate and then it goes into limp in mode and really runs like crap. But as it is compensating sometimes you'll notice a hesitation and power loss.
If you have an older truck that has no computer then it could be a fuel system problem, like a fuel filter that is just about plugged. Chk eng light??? Put it on a code reader and find out...

I am sure your truck loves you very much, but it is unsure of where you plan to drive it....It would probably appriciate it if the night before a little trip, you go in the garage, and let it know what the next days plans are. If you are driving your truck to work, and your truck already knows where its going, maybe it thinks you are working to hard, and hesitateing is its way of asking you, do you really want to go to work today? Trucks are very sensitive to their owners well being, I wish you all the luck in the world with your problem, I will give you a clue, is your truck blue, if it is, it prefers you drink decalf coffee when driving it....if its red, well he wants to go faster than you have been going, it needs some excitement, If its white, its probably dirty, and needs to be given a bath, if its black, it might need a wax job, it could be getting a little dull, take care, and love your truck, because it loves you!

could be a dirty air cleaner, or fuel filter could be a bit dirty. Also fast idle could be a bit on the rich side. Moisture could be a problem also.
