I have a MiniDv Camcorder and transfer Video trough IEEE 1394 (aka FireWire) and capture with Nero Vision Express. So my question is Does it loose quality after you export the video using Nero since it ReEncodes the Video? or does it not? I'm new to DV so thats why I ask.

The "video" on the firewire is already digital. All the capture program is supposed to do is format it into AVI file format, so thus it should be the same quality as originally shot. Using and resaving the video in a computer editor may change the quality especially if converting for DVD burning.

It depends on the chosen resolution for capturing. Normally 720 x 576 saving as .AVI files. Then export it to DVD quality for viewing. Stick to this setting. If lower resolution is chosen then there will be quality dropped. Actually I am not using Nero for capturing, I prefer Adobe Premier Pro for capturing, editing and exporting

It will be the same quality your camera records through it's lens. DV stands for digital video which means it records digitally in binary code such as 1000111110110. All your cpu needs to do is translate the code correctly to reproduce the image which is a no-brainer for pc's these days.

Ask the people from the store you bought it at. I'm sorry I'm so incompetent in these matters
