2 Corinthians 3:17
" And the Lord is the Spirit and where the Spirit of the Lord is there is Liberty"

How do you understand this verse. We know that the Lord Jesus is Who He is in the Trinity. Here its saying that the Lord IS the Spirit.

This other verse in 1 Corinthians 15:45b
" .. The Last Adam became a Life Giving Spirit"
Some versions incorrectly render the word " Spirit " with a common " spirit" which denotes man's spirit. ... but these two verses speak something of the Lord in a way that is not emphasized much...

Let me first give you scripture to read from St. John.

John 14:16-26
16And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
18I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
19Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.
20At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.
21He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
22Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?
23Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
24He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.
25These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.
26But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Here we see in verse 16 God is sending another Comforter.

In verse 18 Jesus said I will come to you. How can he if the comforter is coming. Is he the comforter.

In verse 26 Jesus tells us that the Comforter is the Holy Ghost (Spirit) and that the Father will send in his name, Jesus. Jesus is that spirit.

Another scripture we have
1 John 5:7
For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

These three can not be seperated. They are one and the same. Jesus once told us if you see me you have seen the Father.

In another scripture and we do not always understand is
Colossians 2:9
For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

Jesus is the fulness of the Godhead. How do we understand this? Is Jesus Lord? Is Jesus God? Is he Father? Is he the spirit? 2 Corinthians 3:17 tells us he is that spirit.

We do know he is Lord.
Is the Lord God?
Genesis 2:4
These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens,

John chapter 1 tells us how Jesus created all things. Genesis 1 tells us God created the heavens and earth.

Isaiah 9:6
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

We know the truthful Bible tells us here some of the names given to the son. The mighty God, everlasting Father.

How can this be? Because he is the fulness of the Godhead.

1 Timothy 3:16
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

God was in the flesh.
Justified in the Spirit.

Hope this helps. This is a very great mystery and can be hard to understand often to some of the most mature Christians.

Remember what Paul told Timothy

2 Timothy 2:15
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Your source improperly claims that there is some distinction between "Spirit" and "spirit."

In both cases the Greek word is exactly the same. It was not capitalized in one and not in the other so any time you see "Spirit" spelled with a capital letter in an English New Testament, it is either the beginning of a sentence or the translator is using that to EXPRESS THEIR OPINION of the nature of its meaning.

"Pneuma," the word rendered "spirit" is itself a very common word. Here is its definition:
wind, breath, things which are commonly perceived as having no material substance; by extension: spirit, heart, mind, the immaterial part of the inner person that can respond to God; spirit being: (evil) spirit, ghost, God the Holy Spirit (Greek G/K Definitions, © 2002 by Zondervan.)

Obviously it has both a common secular use and a "theological" use for which the New Testament authors chose to use it.

Though possibly not the main emphasis of the text,I believe that it speaks of the "oneness" of the Lord(Jesus) and Spirit(Holy Spirit),as personages of the triune Godhead. Of course the focal point of the scripture being, that there is Freedom or Liberty in Christ Jesus.

We are taught that He is three in one: The Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. Stop for a moment and think about baptism in THE NAME of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost. The only name given is Jesus. Thus, He is all three in one.

We are made in his image: we have mind, body and spirit (three in one). Don't get confused about it, there's no reason to. The Word is not contradictory of itself. Just continue to read, and study. Then, pray about what you have read and studied and you will gain knowledge.

May God bless and keep you.

It have been given me to the place i'm now. Plus, nonetheless i could desire to be condemned by ability of distinctive pagans for asserting this, Catholicism relatively arranged me for countless the recommendations of Wicca. many of the recommendations do no longer mesh, yet i come across that the recommendations that don't mesh are ones that I questioned, and responded with Wicca. yet some, overly simplified recommendations, alongside with a holy mom, and the trinity, etc relatively made the transition thrilling and not in any respect confusing. Plus fresco-form Catholic paintings is exceptionally cool. I even have some adorning my abode. i can not help it, i'm an artist, I loove paintings.

Not sure exactly what you are asking - but the first selection is simply saying that Jesus (the vail) is God and that only those who acknowledge Jesus also acknowledge God. And only through Jesus is there any liberty (salvation from sin)

With the help of the Holy Spirit we can be free of the human weaknesses that enslaved us. Free from bondage is TRUE freedom...NOT the cheap "freedom" to sin, which really imprisons us!!!

Exactly what it says. It should also be clear from the context whether "spirit" is understood as the Divine, or the human one.

Good question.

I will attempt to much simplify this to start, however, let's keep this in mind:

"IF God were SMALL enough for our human comprehension, He would not be LARGE enough for our real needs." is very true.

The One Paradise Trinity Eternal Infinite UNITY is Three Persons of: God the Father and God the Son and God the Infinite Spirit. Thus on infinite-size Paradise, Reality is One and Triune and Sevenfold and more (but not dualistic, that comes in space-time later)

Both the Father -- and the Son Who IS God the Father fully out in the Universe to us -- Are BOTH in the Infinite Spirit Who has thousands of names and characteristics; one that is very important to grasp is that The Infinite Spirit IS the Divine Activator of all Universe and Heavenly realities.

Down here on earth in our (dual, space-time) universe, The Three Persons of the Trinity are -- at first before Jesus Incarnated here and became fully Sovereign God to us -- manifested-Spirit transmitted-projected in Jesus as the Father-Son Union (our True Image of God Source of Being) and Jesus' Coordinate Partner - the Holy Spirit; and She is also known as the Bride of Christ. God is our Creator Father-Son as Jesus and the Holy Spirit is our Creative Mother.

When, in AD30 here, the Holy Spirit as the Infinite Paradise Spirit of God, gave all of Her Deity Powers freely to Jesus Christ when He fully did God's will on earth of Revealing God to Humanity; then Jesus Christ Achieved full Deity (GOD) Power over all persons and things in His/our large universe.

The above is a brief, simplified summary of about 500 or more pages of advanced current Epochal Revelation on the Trinity Truths. Email me if you want some more for productive lifetime perusals.

"Three in Two as One" is easy to grasp to start out. Three Paradise Persons projected (dualistic) into our universe as Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit; and then AD30 Jesus and the Holy Spirit Unite to make fully Sovereign Jesus Christ.

John was given a great Revelation of The One-Three-Sevenfold Deity nature of Jesus Christ of which we now only have small, and priest-edited and changed parts. Thus God has now given us a new (larger for modern humans today) Epochal Revelation of the SAME Eternal Truths.

In John chapter 16 He the Spirit of Truth is the Paradise Father and the Eternal Son Union Who IS JESUS CHRIST here, known also as the Comforter, the New Teacher. Before He the Spirit of Truth Jesus came down to us, early (Old Testament) mankind always had the Holy Spirit here ! "The Spirit of the Lord ..." many places in the O.T.

Now you know why, John ch 16:7-16 (very important) Jesus states that even the Apostles could NOT then grasp much of what Jesus wanted to later tell all mankind. Thus Jesus sent us "He the Spirit of Truth" Who is freely down-pouring upon ALL flesh !! Jesus Christ is now here fully leading all Truth-lovers worldwide and universe-wide into ALL TRUTH: GOD and His infinite Eternal Paradise and Universal Realities ! Now and forevermore we continue to Ascend into all perfection spiritual status and being a Divinely Beloved Son of God in Jesus in Spirit ! Amen ! (Women are Sons of God the same as Men are)

In AD1977 and eternally I am personally given as great auto-Revelation by Jesus Christ Who took me (as soul) in His Spirit directly into HimSelf and the Father-Infinite I AM as One.... I often share this Deity Unity as our
One Holy Father-Son-Spirit of Truth Who is Jesus here with us lovingly and mercifully leading us into the fullness of God.

I am a son of I AM and so are you, Dear Reader ! I also freely choose to Be a son of I AM in I AM; You can choose to also ! Thank You our Good Master Jesus Christ !
