Its not considered bugging him,its saying thank you for providing the food.
If you saw a homeless man with no shoes and he was hungry and you left him with a sandwich and brand new boots then later he said thank you for the food and boots would you feel bothered??? Its the same thing except God dont leave boots on the dinner table.

Some people actually believe that their food is poisonous if they don't bless it.But those same people also believe that God is infinite,so he doesnt have a limited attention span.
