I believe that he spoke metaphorically, to emphasize the importance of spiritual sustenance....that our inner man(spirit) was in as great of need for nourishment,as our outward physical body. Our spiritual being which is in constant war with our soul(mind, will and emotion),may be victorious, dependent on which part of our triune being that we feed with the greatest passion.

Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life, and no man comes to the father but by me." In today's language, this is almost nonsense, or we might think the person saying was narcissistic. So, in order to understand what Jesus meant, we need to take a look at what context he was using, the tone of voice, the facial expressions and the nuances and choice of words he used. Since much of that we don't have, we have to speculate. This speculation has, in essence, been distorted over and over again, causing many to have critical and resentful remarks about a lovely thing Jesus was trying to tell us. I say this because of a previous writer who seems to have a lot of anger about sister sandy. I hope he can work it out. As far the question goes: how is that the Lord presented Himself in such a way? He tells us--I am the Son of God. Only God in human form could be so bold as to make such statements, UNLESS the man called Jesus was indeed mad. God offered us a gift, and personally came to earth as a man to give it to us in the form of an essence called a son. In Greek, the word son is an off-branching of the father. It is very interesting that Jesus used this analogy in some of his parables. It intimates closeness, community, love, and giving. I like that, and it is what Jesus was trying to teach us--community in its purest form--Heaven on earth.

Our Lord is omnipotent, He is the alpha and omega.
Even before you ask this question, He already know that you will & for you to understand why He presented Himself to the world in such a way, because satan owns the world now, and satan will offer everything in this world to you, to me and to everyone to deceive us, that what we need is material & temporary things.
What God offers to us is eternal because there's more to eternity than here & now, He wants us to realize what's more important to us than what this world can offer.
He gives joy, peace while the world offer temporary happiness, temporary luxury but after that, where are all of this things will go? It will go back to earth.
He has more title than we could ever know, He can also be your best friend. He is also our Abba Father, He gives us the authority to be His sons and daughters. Isn't it wonderful that our King can also be our friend?
You will know more & understand deeper this things when you have a deeper relationship with God.
It's not about religion, it's a relationship.

Just as we accept bread and water to give nourishment to our bodies, accepting Christ into our lives will nourish our spiritual life.
Only the way of life prescribed by Christ can make us and our fellow human beings happy in this life - loving neighbors, loving even the enemies, forgiving them, sharing things with the poor, turning the other cheek, going the second mile etc. Imagine what the world would be like if all the Christians practiced what Jesus preached. And all people can think is Christianity is about telling others to go to hell. We are not supposed to even judge others, leave alone telling them they are going to hell. No other religious leader could teach what Christ taught.

Our Master Jesus Christ is the Creator Father of our large universe and all persons and things therein. He is literally the Gift of Life and Father-Son-Spirit Light to each of us. This life here in the flesh is temporal; our continuing life in ascending in Him is eternal if we so desire his perfect Guidance into the Father-Infinite I AM God on Paradise.
Jesus Christ is I AM here with you. Invite Him in to you as soul ! Amen !
These Truths of Being are purely spiritual and fully transcend human literal finite concepts of bread and water and light and life. Until you are Spirit Born in Him, these words are mostly just intellectual. Only Spirit can Reveal Spirit to Spirit.

Christ came to earth to establish a "new covenant". He is the "bridge way" to the Father. The "old covenant" was the Law or commandments, the Jews (Sanhedrin & Pharises) preverted the law by "adding to" what God had established in the OT. There had to be a perfect sacrifice for all sin for all times. Christ was that unblemished or sinless or perfect sacrifice. He came to earth because of His love and grace for us and also as an example to us. If we accept this "free gift" this payment through sacrifice on our behalf, we live whole heartedly for Him and obey His word.
His reference for Himself as bread, living water, life giver, is to reference His grace, which is all that is ever needed. We are to take Him in, so to speak, as we would take in food for our bodies. His word is food for our spirits. For the body dies, but our spirit lives on after death. Our choice...be it with Him or in the Lake of Fire.

Hello Sandy,
Have you ever reflected on the beauty of the Cross? There was our Savior stretched out on the Cross with large spikes in his hands and feet. I can only imagine that his physical body wreaked with excruciating pain while he was gasping for air. The soldiers were so cruel to him that even in his thirst they gave him vinegar to drink instead of pure refreshing water to ease his physical agony. Christ cries out in deep compassion for sinful humanity "FATHER FORGIVE THEM FOR THEY KNOW NOT WHAT THEY DO". Wow! Christ was in full control of his humanity even while suffering at his greatest moment. Two theives died beside him. One thief rejected him but the other thief beg for mercy from our Lord. He asked Jesus, "Will you remember me when you enter into the kingdom"? Jesus said to him with tender compassion "Today, you shall be with me in paradise". WOW! That's love. Jesus would not die until he saved at least one more. Now that's love in the midst of great suffering.
Indeed, Jesus is the lifegiver. He gave his all for us so that we can live eternally with him.
Because of Jesus, I now have a home in Heaven.
His mercy endures forever.
John 14:1-3
Have a wonderful evening meditating on God's great love for you. He is marvelous. He is wonderful. His grace is sufficient.

"Christianity...[has become] the most perverted system that ever shone on man....Rogueries, absurdities and untruths were perpetrated upon the teachings of Jesus by a large band of dupes and imposters led by Paul, the first great corrupter of the teaching of Jesus." --- Thomas Jefferson
“The son-ship of Jesus Christ is the greatest fiction of human history.” (Lord Bishop of Canterbury Commission, the Spiritual Head of England, 1910.)
“The son-ship of Jesus Christ, the Trinity, the blood sacrifice of the lamb of God, atonement are not the teachings of Jesus. These are all inventions of Saint Paul who never really met Jesus.” (Hastings Rashdall, The Theory of Good and Evil)
"Initially there were 34 gospels that were compiled by word of mouth. Four were chosen for unclear reasons and 30 were left behind [burned]. (Encyclopedia Britannica)
“There is strong reason to believe that St. Paul fabricated the belief system of Christianity from Zoroastrian mythology. In order to hide Paul’s plaigerism… Christians burned the library of Alexandria in 390 A.D. Books in that library kept Mithra’s original story of what Pauline Doctrine is an almost exact copy. (George Sarton , Introduction to History of Sciences) ,
Although Nontrinitarian beliefs continued to multiply, and among some people (such as the Lombards in the West) it was dominant for hundreds of years afterward, the Trinitarians gained the immense power of the Roman Empire. Nontrinitarians typically argue that the primitive beliefs of the Christianity were systematically suppressed (often to the point of death), and that the historical record, perhaps also including the Scriptures of the New Testament, was altered as a consequence.
