shyness is a bummer?

i'm not usually a shy person but when it comes to this one guy i just can't talk to him. my friends say i should they talk to him and they say he's nice. i am usually the kind of girl that people can say do something and i'll just do it. but when it comes to people telling me to talk to him i get butterflies. and my friends have told him that i'm awesome *not to be concited but i am in a way awesome to be with* and after they told him that he just looks at me almost non-stop he smiles at me and stuff. i kind of dont know what to do cuz i really want to talk to him but i think it'll backfire really quickly

I don't understand your problem ; you either are shy or you are not . shyness has blighted my whole life , till middle age and still does sometimes . A friend told me that in situations when you might be suddenly shy , to beat your chest with your fist , Tarzan style ; it really works . The young man is probably shy too . I have realised later in life that many people are shy and hide it by being pompous , outrageous or some other rather offputting behaviour . You can gain the upper hand by putting them at their ease . You could go up to this young man and say to him you keep looking at me , is there something wrong ? You do a lot of smiling , why don't you say something ? Make him laugh ; laughter always eases the way . Don't look at this young man as the man of your dreams , a future boyfriend just relax and have fun .

Well...just talk to him. You just force yourself to do it. Don't think about all the 'bad' stuff that could happen.

It's best to have a bunch of stuff ready to say and talk about. If you need to, write it down and memorize the stuff.

You might try little steps...talk to him for just a minute...then the next day two and so on
