I don't think a lot of Americans really support the troops. If you are against their mission, you are not supporting them. I bet OBL wishes he thought up the "I support the the troops but not the war" line.
For example, can you really say you are supporting your child when you tell them before a track meet, "Your not going to win, but I support you."
What a lot of Americans do is confuse "sympathy" for "support," such as the person that answered that she supports the troops by getting them out of Iraq. Thats not support. Thats sympathy, feeling sorry for the troops because they are over there.

I support the troops 110%. I support the war in Iraq although I feel it has been handled badly. I do not think we are tough enough on the enemy. I despise anyone who says we are losing. I want no quiters on my side when at war. There is no room for defeatism. When you are in a war you either win or lose. Do we want a leadership in this country that is OK with losing a war against an emeny who is committed to the destruction of our country and way of life?

Absolutely. 100%. I would think most people do. I wish I could actually *do* something though. Like donate to families that are struggling because a member of their family was hurt or killed in the wars. But, I'm struggling to pay bills myself.
I currently have 3 friends deployed (1 navy, 1 Marine, 1 Army). I wish them the best and worry about them. I hate to think there are Americans out there that don't.

I do support what the troops are doing because every terrorist, insurgent, or whatever they're called that our people wipe off the face of the earth is one less scumbag that could hurt this country in a similar fashion as they did on 9/11/01.

Yes.
I ride for their funerals, deployments and returns. I stop them to say thank you when I see them, pay for their dinners when I see them out. Will do what ever I can to let them know I support their sacrifice to serve our country.
Patriot Guard Riders Mission Statement
The Patriot Guard Riders is a diverse amalgamation of riders from across the nation. We have one thing in common besides motorcycles. We have an unwavering respect for those who risk their very lives for America’s freedom and security. If you share this respect, please join us.
We don’t care what you ride or if you ride, what your political views are, or whether you’re a hawk or a dove. It is not a requirement that you be a veteran. It doesn't matter where you’re from or what your income is; you don’t even have to ride. The only prerequisite is Respect.
Our main mission is to attend the funeral services of fallen American heroes as invited guests of the family. Each mission we undertake has two basic objectives.
1. Show our sincere respect for our fallen heroes, their families, and their communities.
2. Shield the mourning family and their friends from interruptions created by any protestor or group of protestors.
We accomplish the latter through strictly legal and non-violent means.
To those of you who are currently serving and fighting for the freedoms of others, at home and abroad, please know that we are backing you. We honor and support you with every mission we carry out, and we are praying for a safe return home for all.

Absolutely, 100%!!
I do NOT support an incompetent, arrogant, greedy, war-mongering administration that lied to Congress, hoodwinked the American people and conned our valiant U.S. troops into believing there was honorable purpose in attacking another sovereign nation that in no way threatened, provoked or attacked the United States.
I do NOT support a Commander-In-Chief who has murdered 675,000 Iraqis and 3,800 U.S. soldiers so that a handful of his wealthy elitist friends can become wealthier.
I do NOT support a government that holds the Iraqi Parliament hostage to an outrageous demand that it pass a law surrendering two-thirds of its oil fields to private foreign oil companies, effectively stealing Iraq's most valuable economic resource (this is Bush's number-one non-military 'benchmark'). **

I certainly do support our troops. My husband is serving his third tour in Iraq. I'm proud of what he has done these past 8 years as a Marine.
