I think the pacifism of Jesus is an invention of later generations. His destruction of the temple (which was why he was executed) was not peaceful in any way--it's called inciting to riot.
To survive in a hostile environment, early Christians emphasized Jesus' words of peace, and probably left out other words and acts which contradicted those words.

Um, I don't think he needed bodyguards. I recall a scripture saying something to the effect that he had an "army of angels" making sure he never even so much as stubbed a precious toe...lol

No Jesus Christ did not have an army travel with Him - although He could of summoned legions of angels that were at His disposal should He of desired to.
Some of His disciples tried to be a self-appointed body guard on occasion, such as Peter.

Yes; don't you recall that He said if He so wished He could call down legions of angels. He is after all, the Lord of Lords and King of Kings. All of heaven's army is at His command.
As for a human army in the traditional sense, He had no purpose in one.

Christ could have called on God's angels any time He chose, particularly when He was in the desert for 40 days. But He chose not to.

He does have his own Army, they are called The Saints. He also has the Angels.
