I don't know who wrote the parts in the Bible about homosexuality: Jesus, someone influenced by Jesus, or what. But I'm bisexual, and every time I read or hear something like "homosexuals are going to hell", I am really hurt. I struggled with it for a few years once I realized what was going on, with people I confessed to immediately telling me to repent, and finally accepted myself the way I am. It did no good to pretend away my sexuality, it just didn't work. And trust me, I tried.
One thing I've noticed about the stories in the Bible involving homosexuals is that they never talk about any gay couples who loved each other. They probably existed. So either the people who wrote these stories were too filled with hatred to see them as other human beings who in fact could love, or the only sinful thing about homosexuality is if you're having some kind of orgy or just basically being promiscuous.
In the Christian religion, or at least the way i was taught, God speaks to you through your conscience, and my conscience says that there is nothing wrong with me. I'm not a freak of nature, in fact it's perfectly natural or I would never have felt that way to begin with. I have loved a girl, and i wish people would understand that it's exactly the same as "straight love". Love is love. God is love. So people need to be nicer to those who are strong enough to be who they are.

I do not think that religious people hate homosexuals, they strongly disagree and do what they can to reform them.
To answer your question....no! God (male) would not approve of the hatred or judgement that some pass onto others. It says that in whatever way we judge others He will judge us. It also says to love your neighbor as yourself and that whoever is perfect should cast the first stone. The Bible also says that God is Love and to know God is to know Love and if you do not know Love then you do not know God. He also teaches us to forgive one another of our sins because He forgives us. I think that everyone of us is a sinner, no exceptions but Christ. God also says that there is no sin that is better than another sin, therefore my sin of telling a lie is still a sin just as a person who is a homosexual. They are both against God and both need to be forgiven...not by other men of the world but by God Himself! I do not live anyone else's life and will never have to answer for anyone's sins except mine. I would hate to have to answer for an act of hatred that I may have shown to another child of God, or someone who I could have shown love to but decided to allow my judgement take over and prevent me from truly being a child of God and showing the love He commands us to show.
EDIT 1) To say that homosexuality is not compatible with Christ's teaching for the simple fact that it is a sin is true. However, no sin is better than any other! NO sin is compatible with the teaching, but the one true thing that is is the teaching of love and forgiveness, which Christ puts above all. The greatest commandment is to love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul and mind. The next greatest is to love your neighbor as yourself. Homosexuality is not a sin against anyone but God, therefore HE and HE ALONE should be the ONLY judge. God loves ALL sinners, not the sin.

First off you are wrong. Religious people in general do not hate homosexuals. I have no idea where you have gotten your information from.
Second, not all religions look down on homosexuality. But I must assume that you are talking about Christianity, Islam, and Judaism.
Third, Christianity did away with the dietary laws and the biblical holy days in the fourth century. So if a Christian so chooses to do away with the law against homosexuality that is in the book of Leviticus, he/she may. Its flat out wrong and against scripture to do that but they can (and have done so to other laws).
So to answer your poorly put together question, yes they can be in certain situations. Religions are made by men and they can change their rules to suit themselves at any time. However God's laws are eternal. So the question you should be asking is this:
Are homosexuality and God's Laws compatible with yeah other?
I would answer no, to that. The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, The YHVH God, finds sleeping with the same sex a detestable act.

OK i might be stoned but, that argument could be said for an infinite number of groups people, and no i don't believe both are compatible, at least no fundamentalists types of religion. The statement religion makes is that it has the absolute answer there in lies the problem truth is a relative thing, only relative to the individuals who believe or are subjected to said truth. There philosophy and mindset do not allow for deviation,On one hand they say god disapproves of homosexuality(book of Leviticus)but yet they themselves feel that the other sins stated in this book were merly guidelines, shellfish pork, mixing of cloths.See in order for them to claim an absolute truth there can only be one rule, same rule for all.But then they hold exceptions for the rules.tho shall not kill except in a war(doesn't say that)just says tho shall not kill now mind you a great many will read this an say well were didn't say we were perfect,(and that's where the flaw shows in their ideology.Because there imperfection is the same imperfection as the sin of the homosexual, that means there the same, yep guess what all you religious zealots of the lord out there god views sin equally , no sin greater no sin lesser. so in effect you and the homosexual are one in the same in the eyes of your judeo christian jesus .Me on the other hand am not gay and dont really hold fast to the bible so im not gay nor a zealot.so i guess in the eyes of god hehe ive got the advantage.Look mthe real moral to all of this, is a simple one be good to one another be kind to one another, we really are all we have here on this blue spinning globe called earth, wheteher you belive in a god or not and whom you sleep with behind closed doors(between consenting adults)is really no ones business , to belive that you can save someones soul for heaven is like trying to do surgery on a person with no hands , what makes you so arrogant to belive you of all people deserve heaven(yes yes i know about the blood of christ) but try reading ephesians, know how you bible gurus are stuck on detail, we were chosen before the founding of time(yep you guessed it)predestination. So no one knows where anyones going after they are dead.

First of all, we don't all hate homosexuals. You have the wrong information.
God hates sin....but loves the sinner.
Romans 5:8....But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us....
That means Jesus died for all people, the good and the bad, the righteous and the unrighteous, the rich and the poor, the heterosexual and the homosexual.....for all of us....for this reason....
Romans 3:23....for all have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God.
This was the purpose for Jesus to come to Earth....to save us all. Then He works on the inner man to sanctify us thru faith....as the Word of God cleans us up.

I am "religious" and do NOT hate homosexuals. They are just like me- humans who are tempted with sin. I do not face this temptation but I face others such as greed, lying, anger, etc. These are all the same in God's eyes and are handled the same way. We pray for strength to resist the temptations we face. Salvation has nothing to do with what we are tempted with or even our sins- it has to do with accepting Jesus and engaging in a relationship with Him. God does not approve of hatred- those who hate homosexuals are just as guilty of sin as the ones they hate. I know many "Christians" do hate them and as I stated- this is not of God.

No, conservative Christians, in general, hate homosexuality (although they may or may not hate homosexuals). That is not the same as "religious people." Liberal Christians, Wiccans, and Unitarian Universalists all tend to welcome homosexuals. Many moderate Christians do as well: remember that the Episcopalian church has a gay bishop. I worked for a Reform Jew rabbi who supported gays in the clergy (I don't know enough Reform Jews to generalize about them).
Perhaps you should consider whether he/she would approve of your over-generalization and stereotyping. Personally, I find it unflattering.

I don`t think your "fact" is a fact. Christians don't hate homosexuals.
Homosexuality and Christianity are not compatible. It is a sin and sin is contrary to what Christ taught. As far as other religions go I can't answer but no, in Christianity they are not compatible any more than robbery, assault, prostitution, etc...

I feel that they're compatible. That's because I know quite a few gays who I feel are very spiritual people. They could teach me a thing or two about spirituality. I'm religious, and I don't believe in denying anybody rights (or religious experiences) based on their sexual preference.
