i have never been to iran but i have been to lebanon, twice. i know there is a difference, but to most americans there is no difference. when i think of iran, i see a bunch of clergy running a country and what bad can happen if you allow religion and government to merge together. when i think of the iranian people, i think of intelligent, highly educated, misunderstood, freedom loving, freedom denied, people who refuse to take their country back from their theologian rulers.
also, when i think of iran, i think of how wrong the american government has treated the iranian people over the last 50 years. installed the shaw, who was brutal and hated. every bit as bad as saddam. iranians have every reason to hate americans, but surprisingly the vast majority don't.

when i was in lebanon, i was amazed at how many people wore hats or shirts with USA on them. i am sure alot of iranians feel the same way, but are silenced.

oh yeah, and iranians aren't arabs, but persians!!!

i am sure you will get roasted for asking this question, but this is because most americans think iranians still live in tents and ride camels. americans have taken ignorance and made it an art form.

Dear angelkimia,
Iran is a very beautiful country in terms of landscape and culture and history. It is as beautiful as a female Arabian dancer dancing under the moonlight by an oasis in the desert.
Landscape - the mountains of Hormuz, the desert, etc
Culture - Different tribes there, religions (Islam, Christianity, Zoroastrianism). Beautiful architecture like those in Isfahan. Wine from Shiraz.
History - there's so much. Mainly the Persian empires. Ruins of Persepolis and Susa. Famous emperors like Darius, Xerxes, Artaxerxes.

The problem is that American media often portray Iran as evil because of its bad government and president. That is so not true. I feel sorry that Iranian people have been slandered and misunderstood because of this.

In what way is a culture that amputates hands and feet and nails them to the door of their previous owner, who may or may not have perpetrated the crime for which this punishment was administered, a culture that can be considered "freakin awesome," as I believe you put it?

The trial lasts five minutes and the punishment lasts five seconds.

They say you can still feel a limb after it has been amputated. You could find out if you want to move to Iran and embrace their "freakin awesome" culture.

Most Iranians would probably not volunteer for the Suicide Brigade, but enough would to be a real problem. The Mullahs have had time to indoctrinate almost an entire generation of Iranians into self-destructive beliefs. I feel very sorry for Iran - the Shaw was a tyrant, but the Mullahs aren't any better.

I live on OC, SoCal and have worked with many Iranians. I really like almost every one of them. They are terrific people. The islamists that run Iran must be destroyed now before they get the weapons whatever it takes. I love the Iranian people but not so much that I would let those nut jobs that run their government get nuclear weapons.

Sad to say at this time when i hear Iran, I don't think good things...but you are right, it's just because of one man. But then he really doesn't have power, does he?
I feel for your nation and hope that someday you get to be free of the ideology that has taken your country prisoner.

I'm sorry , but I think " evil theocracy " lead by an evil president that sounds so much like Adolf Hitler. I know most Iranians are not that way , but your leaders are !! Americans would like to have Iranians as friends again , but that will not happen until YOU change your government.

Iran is the most wonderful place on earth, and president ahmadinejad is the nicest guy on the planet. He's really just misunderstood. The Iranians bring joy, peace, and love to all mankind, such a wonderful country and people.

Iran's government is the most benevolent in the world, and the people of Iran enjoy the highest levels of peace, freedom, education, and well-being of any civilized nation. If only all the other nations would follow Iran's example there would be no hatred, no fear, no homosexuality anywhere.

I feel for you. If I were you I would move. I have a horrible feeling this crazy terrorist president we have we try to nuke you guys. I wish I could stop him but I can't. Please know that some of us tried to stop him. I do everything I can to get him out of office and destroy the corruption here, but it is deeply rooted and it spans the globe. Again I am sorry.
