I am agnostic, I do not believe in the biblical God.
I am open to the possibility that a higher entity might exist.
Religions, such as the Abramahic ones, are about power and social control not God.
I am repulsed by the hate spread by religions, that is definitely one of the causes of religious apostasy and atheism.
Rational thinking and more knowledge is also another reason that leads people to atheism.
I would like to end with a very good quote by a great thinker .
Whenever we read the obscene stories, the voluptuous debaucheries, the cruel and torturous executions, the unrelenting vindictiveness, with which more than half the bible is filled, it would seem more consistent that we called it the word of a demon than the Word of God. It is a history of wickedness that has served to corrupt and brutalize mankind.
Thomas Paine (1737 - 1809)

Because Christianity offers the most illogical reason to want to live through this life but at the same time it is hard to be ignored without first accepting the fact that it is pure truth. When this truth cannot be explained by mere words or experience, the most logical thing to do is to push it aside reasoning that it makes no sense. But it can never make sense to the man who seeks to find its truths just for the mere reason of satisfying his selfish need to always be in the right, but rather it is revealed to those whose thoughts and being are not limited to reason or logics. Thus people turn away from this walk because they simply lack the faith that is requires to continue, not negating the fact that it is so much easier to go along with that suicidal(spiritual) man that always seems to have the absolute power over them.

The greater acceptable reason is the shortcoming of evidence. this is a huge one. faith is a particular 2d, not purely Christianity. yet Christianity is the international's best faith... Edit: this is probable by using fact in Western society, maximum everybody is born into Christianity. Christianity makes some incredibly wild claims approximately God, so it is an fairly shaky beginning up for have faith in God. i could think of that human beings could be greater possibly to have faith in God in the event that they weren't reported in Christianity, by using fact they weren't uncovered to such quite a few ridiculous claims approximately him.

Not really. Maybe most of the people you know, in that case its just a coincidence. I find that there is a mix of Atheists that at one time believed in either Islam, Judaism, and Christianity.

Christianity is disillusioning to all but the most naive or weak minded. But, I would say that thinking and knowledge are the leading cause of atheism.

Well, I think that foolishness is the leading cause of Atheism. The Bible says, "A fool says in his heart that there is no God". I think for some people they have a hard time living the Christian life and walking the walk because it does not fit in with that they want to do or the type of fun they want to have so it is better to not believe in any God so you have no one or nothing to be accountable to or for.

Hypocrisy is the leading cause of atheism, in my opinion. It is easier to be judgemental and blame the Creator than to realize that humanity is flawed and cannot be good and truthful without God.

No foolishness is the leading evidence of Atheism. The fool has said in his heart there is no god. And also in Romans we read, professing themselves to be wise they have become fools.

Christianity is a way of life, its about a relationship with Christ; submitting your ways to become more like Him. People that are stubborn and full of pride don't believe they need to change and thus badmouth Christianity. Atheists are the result of the resistance of becoming more Christ-like.
