sometimes my healthy, 3-5 y/o medium chow mix
tries to throw up.. it's likes she hacks up to cough up
something but nothing ever comes out of her mouth..
and can this be at all from stress?
we found her and have had her for 2 months and 9 days now
i see her do this usually almost every day
i took her to the vet about 1 month ago (or less) (for shots)
and idk if she has ear mites or not, too..
she rubs her head sometimes on my leg or w/e else and scratches it sometimes when she's laying down (when i don't want to scrtach her tummy)
i clean her ears about ever 1 1/2 weeks but i can't tell or not..
about a month oago or a little more ago her ears got cleaned by someone else and she had ear mites then..
and is it normal for their ear wax to be red-ish brown?
thanks

okay, i'll be sure to take her to the vet pretty soon
will she be okay? :(
heartworms????!
the last vet must have been a frckn IDIOT then because i doubt he even checked her ears like he should have..
and he didn't even tell us last time that we had to get another 2 shots in a few weeks..we were lucky to find out just in time though
so will she be okay?
we feed her good dog food- eagle pack (switching to canidae soon)
does she need to take those heartworm chewies then if she does have it?
what can happen at the worst with these things withing the next 2 weeks?
is within the next week the maximum time frame i should take her in?

No ear wax is not reddish brown, she has mites, an ear infection or a yeast infection.
She should go to the vet and get a complete physical exam.. She might have nothing wrong, but she might also have heartworm or a heart problem..
Take a stool sample w/ you... OH .. Hers not yours..

Sounds like mites.

As for the hacking, is she eating when she does this? She could be choking on her food.

It could also be a symptom of other things, I believe the first poster mentioned heartworm.

Its best to have her looked at by your vet. They can test for heartworm and other things, and give a good treatment for the mites as well.

She may have hairballs, and yes, dogs as well as cats get them. Reddish brown ear wax is good indication of ear mites. You can buy ear mite medicine at pet stores or from your vet. Being she is a new pet to you and a stray at that, you should have her checked by a vet and obtain shots for her too.
