I mean, whenever you go onto the politics section, all you see is stuff like "Bush Is an idiot!"
What made you so prejudiced against Him?
I know this is probably the 500th time this has been asked but I really want to know. I'm not looking for an argument and if you are out for one please don't answer this. Also I would like answers with something to back them up. Not something like "because he's a jerk!!" I want REAL answers with a reason why you think that way!!
I personally think that Bush has faced the most extreme things a president can face, ie, a war, and also half his country deserting him and basically saying that the enemy is in the right.
He has had to make so very tough decisions and I think that he decided the right way to go... to fight even though he has so much opposition, even from his own country.
Come on people, support your president!!

Because of the 2000 election. Gore tried to steal the election, people resent the fact that he couldn't get away with it.

Let's actually have a look at the Bush administration.
He inherited a massive surplus from the Clinton administration and determined that the best thing to do with this surplus was give it back to (some) American people - hence what was needed was a massive income tax cut particularly favoring the rich. Then all of a sudden we had a recession and 9/11 so what was needed to get the economy up and running again - funnily enough a massive income tax cut particularly favoring the rich. We were all told through the magic of right wing economics the tax cut would actually generate more revenue - but of course it did not with government revenues only returning to 2000 levels in real terms in 2006.
But did Bush combine this tax cut with some frugality on the expenditure side - no. Despite talking a big game on fiscal responsibility he increased spending past what any president has ever considered. The result being we now owe our children 9 trillion dollars (or 30 thousand dollars each) that we never even asked if we could borrow.
But did all this spending actually make America a better place? No poverty has increased and health statistics worsened - while our rich got phenomenally richer (by taking it from our children remember) the average American has not seen any increase in income in real terms.
So from an economic point of view Bush has been a disaster for most of us. But why should we be surprised - he was just dancing with the girl that brought him to the ball.
And who was that girl - well it was the energy and military industries. Yep Bush owed a big favor to the people who put him where he was. Hence an unjustified invasion in breach of international law. We take out Saddam - hand over the Iraqi oil industry (not to mention half a trillion of our dollars) to these companies (some of whom moved to Dubai to avoid paying taxes to the US) and all we had to pay was the lives of 3000 of our finest young men (not to mention 80,000 Iraqi's lives - but the right never seem to think they are worth mentioning).
Now all of this may be been acceptable. I mean sure he is not working in America's best interests - but the harm hasn't been too much - right? Sure - but if you have a kid in special ed - that program is shut so your pitiful tax cut is gone. If you require medical assistance but cannot afford health insurance - medicaid funding has been cut. You may well have got sick because CDC funding was cut and an outbreak went undiagnosed. If your kid is being left behind at school that is probably because Bush refused to even fund his own "No child left behind" program.
And even then - poor people are accustomed to getting screwed in the name of the American dream for a few - so this probably would still not have been so sickening. But above all Bush's condescending, debate stifling rhetoric - so happily picked up by the right wing media component - and now it seems YA posters - has attempted to even make questioning our leaders un-American.
If I dislike the war - I am not supporting the troops. If I question my president - I am Bush bashing. If I want a society that looks after it's least fortunate - I am conducting class warfare. If I question the direction my country is heading - I hate America.
There are plenty of reasons to be disgusted by this administration. They have financially bankrupted the country and also robbed us of our moral high standing and the esteem the world saw for us. If all you can see is "Bush is an idiot" then you are not looking very hard. I am prejudiced against him because he is trying to re-define America - completely the opposite of the country I love. I do not want a country where greed is considered a virtue but compassion a weakness. I do not want a country where peace is simply the short lived period between wars. I do not want a country where welfare for corporations is claimed to be in the country's interest but social welfare is not.
I will support a president that supports America.

I think that you aren't taking a close enough look at the real Bush. Politicians ALWAYS have an agenda. You don't get to be president of the U.S. without having a HUGE amount of special interest money in your pocket. I suggest starting with Bush's biography. He was at best an average student, a failed bussinessman and had shown himself to be very irresponsible in his youth. His father paid for everything, including a failed attempt to become a movie producer. Politics was a last resort. It was the 'family bussiness'. Here's some links that have changed my opinion of Bush:
This is Bush's "resume" for the Oval Office.

This one details the conflict of interests that the Bush Administration has in Iraq and in the oil bussiness.

Here's a poll of the Iraqi people, showing how thier quality of life is worse today than it was right after the war.

Here's a look at the events leading up to the invasion of Iraq, and how Bush handled the intelligence reports.

Here's a look at how Bush refuses to enforce the laws that Congress passes.

AND...if you are still bored...take a look at what happened the day before 9-11....

I'm NOT claiming that this is a conspiracy. But, the 2.3 trillion dollars is still unaccounted for. Here's the follow up...

The truth is that they dont really have a good reason. Most of them are blind ideologues who buy into whatever they are told to believe. Others are just scared of any type of conflict and dont understand that strength comes from unity not divisiveness. Together we stand, divided we fall.
Although I disagree with many of Bush's positions, he is among the most honest and has the deepest core convictions of any president in recent memory. I'd rather have a guy that believes in what he says than a guy that lies all the time.
The world is dangerous and beleiving it isnt doesnt change that fact.
Contrary to the lies, he has not shreded the Constitution- what BS. He didnt begin the wiretapping of Americans, that started 60 yrs ago- sorry but its true. He was the first president to publicly state that we would intercept FORIEGN calls to or from suspected terrorists. People need to stop being so blindly ideological and stop drinking the kool aid.

aside from the fact that he's a moron or at least plays the part well, he has presided over some of the worst policy decisions in US history....tax cuts for the wealthy when we have a deficit...and if there is be a tax cut, it should go the people who will spend it...the middle class, Iraq, runaway spending, lying, crimes against the American people...warrentless wire taping, domestic spying, suspension of habeas corpus, etc.... he's embarrassing, he presides over the second highest expansion of the debt (Reagan and his father were the worst) and he apparently thinks God speaks to him and believes he on a mission from God to bring about Armageddon....or so I have read.....he apparently baffled the President of France with references to it, and the French President had to have his people research what it was he was talking about....something about "gog and magog"....he's loonie! Support this guy? don't be ridiculous.....I just hope we survive the last 15 months of this, the worst Presidency in US history....he should be impeached, thrown out of office, and then arrested, tried and imprisoned for his crimes....Cheney, Rummy, Rice and the rest of them, too.

I personaly do not see how he is running the war well. I do understand that war sometimes will help out bad situations. I also do not see him making the economy ( jobs and health care) better for the lower class. He seems to help the upper class more. The people who are well off are already doing well for themselfs and some (but not all ) the lower class need a little help with better health care so they make there lifes better.
That is only my opinion and i am not trying to piss people off.

Bill clintoon did not support anything either except himself, and the whores that he brought to the white house. The clintoons presidency was all about them.....it had nothing to do with the ppl.
all i hear are liberals complaining about this war and such, that it was not justified......so tell me what did Bosnia do to us. why did clintoon send our military there when they never did anything to us .... nor did they call us the great Satan, nor were they building dirty bombs, and chemical weapons like Saddam was....and he was a smart man, he knew that eventually we were coming and had those weapons shipped out. those weapons are still around.....you will see them, they will one day be used against other countries in the middle east. Ignoring it will not make it go away, the terrorist will see this as a sign of weakness, and will eventually laugh in your faces. The Muslims want to take over the world, and force you to believe the same as they do......they will have a field day with all the liberals who are absolutely against a god of any kind.

I will agree that Bush has had some very difficult obstacles to deal with in his presidency and therein lies the problem. It shows that he is not a leader. A true test of an individual is their ability to handle adversity and to get the best results possible from a bad situation. In any given crisis Bush has shown that he is stubborn, petulent, partisan and remarkably dense.
Katrina: "You've done a heckuva job Brownie" Two days later we see thousands of people still stranded, with no water, no help and no shelter. Over 2 years later New Orleans is still a wasteland.
Iraq: Mission Accomplished. Two weeks later we're in street fights with the Iraqi's and the situation has gone from bad to worse and we are in the middle of a civil war. Almost 4,000 dead American soldiers. More killed than on September 11 and more terrorists than ever in the world.
I could go on and on. Look at the leadership of Kennedy during the Cuban Missile Crisis, where he practiced restraint and diplomacy or Regan where he stood up against Russia until it imploded.
Bush is like a spoiled brat and his behavior is shameful and embarassing for America.

sure, he's faced hardships...
...9/11, that he ignored the warnings for
...the war in Iraq, that he started without justification
...the constant stifling of opposing views
...questions about his motives for EVERYTHING
anything bad that W has faced, he has brought upon himself. he is merely the figurehead for a movement that's been going on for decades: the privatisation of America. our schools, our social programs, our healthcare system, even our military; all of these things are being pursued by capitalism, when none of them should be profit-making endeavors.
people can love their country without loving the President.
