No. The initial prophylaxis includes a single shot of rabies immune globulin, which may be given in the rear, or it may be given half around a particularly bad bite, with the other half in the rear; at the same time, the first dose of the HDCV immunization is given in the deltoid muscle of the arm, as are the subsequent doses. They're given on days 0, 3, 7, 14 and 28, for a total of five doses. They also hurt a lot less than the old vaccine.

They give you a series of 7 shots at a time on three seperate visits. I think each set of shots is done a month apart, in either your butt, your thighs or your stomach. I know because when I was 9 I tried to pet a stray black cat who was eating trash from the local dumpster and it bit me. We never did find it to test it for rabies so I had to get the shots. I got the shots in my thighs and they did hurt so bad, it felt as if someone had punched my thighs over and over again!

No, that was in the past. As of now rabies shots are no longer administered around the navel area.
At present, the human rabies immune globulin (HRIG) for immediate protection is injected into and around the bite site. If the bite area is small, the remaining amount is injected into other body parts - deltoid (shoulder muscle), lateral thigh or in the buttock.
Rabies vaccine are injected at deltoid in adults or older children. The lateral aspect of the thigh muscle is acceptable in younger children. It must never be injected into the buttocks.

How's this for a source:
http://www.novartis-vaccines.com/products/Rabavert_PI_0404.pdf
It's the prescribing information from the company that makes the shot.
Scroll to page 5, and look at "dosage and administration" It says to give it IM - that means in the muscle.
Injections were never given in the stomach - that is an organ where food goes. They were given intraperitoneally - into the abdominal cavity. That was a long time ago.
