"good" cameras mean different things to different people. Do you want to EDIT the footage for a video project? Do you want to WATCH the footage on a tv immediately after filming? Do you want a LIGHTWEIGHT camera? Do you want an INEXPENSIVE camera? Do you want 8mm, miniDV, miniDVD or hard drive media in your camera?

My choice would be one that wraps up most of the above: Panasonic makes a great miniDV camera that's small, lightweight and takes really nice and clear video. Best of all it only costs $250 brand new at places like Costco or Sam's Club. If you go on EBAY, you could probably find one much cheaper.

Do you mean that filming while skateboarding? Get camera with handle, easy for holding it. Panasonic camera has a record and zooming button attached to the handle. It is easy to control camera while on the move.

Canon GL1 or Gl2. Sony vx2000 or vx2100. these are very good cameras. and you can hold them on top which is great for skateboarding.

you want one that is very cheap as it will get destroyed on the first or second outing. get a "fisheye" or wide angle screw on filter. this will eliminate the need to focus or aim, and also greatly reduce annoying shake.
