Comcas customer service sucks and they are going up on their rates. What is the next best option for digital service for HD and internet in the Houston area?

They suck big time. They need to stick to what they know. They are trying so hard to be a telecom provider that they're losing ground in the cable business. I'm not from Houston but I do work for a telephone company and I can tell you that getting internet from your land line phone provider is usually cheaper and safer as you have a dedicated line coming into your home rather than having your info floating around somewhere in cable-ville. As for HD I don't know for sure but satellite has made strides in providing a quality product at a reasonable price. The company I work for has a contract with dish network so that we can provide TV as well as phone and internet. It's a more cost effective option. I used to work for Comcast and it was hell. What sucks even more is that I have to watch my Comcast stock options tank because they're so full of it! The wonders never cease!

I had Comcast when I lived in Boston and had nothing but problems from day 1. They charged $175 for installation that was supposed to be free, then would not remove it from the bill. We experienced internet outages frequently, the phone line stopped working for no reason. Customer service was usually pretty helpful, although there were typically very long wait times. Billing was a different story...a complete and utter nightmare. I caution everyone I can away from this company. Awful.

DirectTV for sure! There customer service is awesome! I had an LNB go out on Saturday that caused me to lose my HD channels and I was bummed because I was going to miss my NFL Ticket in HD on Sunday. I called DTV and they sent someone out the NEXT morning Sunday and fixed it so I didn't miss my HD games.

They are a little more expensive than Dish, but with 70 HD channels by the end of the month through Oct and 100 before the end of the year for $10 I'm all over it. Of course that doesn't include premiums but still.

For TV Is have to go with Dish network. Hate Comcast and I'm not a fan of Directv. As far as internet, I do think comcast is the best. I agree with you, Comcast customers service sucks, but compared to dsl, cable is much better.
