Suppose God, who is perfect, made a car. You would expect the car to be PERFECT as well right? Well what if he made the car without wheels (babies born without arms or legs),... or a car with the engine on the outside (babies born with the heart on the outside), or a car with no windshield (babies born with no eyes or face? Obviously this design is not perfect, therefore they are either created imperfect or humans are not created all.

Please Google these birth defects to see what I mean. Then ask yourself: Is this perfect human design? Why doesn't God fix these babies? They never sinned to deserve these defects. And let it not be said that birth defects are sent as a punishment for our sins, for it is more prevalent among animals than among humans.

For all those who say that Man brought this upon himself: I could understand that, IF it was the man who did it in the first place. What did the babies do who are born with birth defects? They didn't disobey God...maybe their "ancestors" did (Adam and Eve) but does are the sins of the parents really visit their children? I thought that they had something about that in the Bible (don't know for sure...but I read somewhere something to that affect) If there is a god...then screw him...he's way to malicious to be worshiped, at least in my opinion. BUT most Christan's could use that against me as being mad at God, wrong, I'm not mad at any deity that I don't believe in, it's just that if the Christian God is the "One true God" then that god doesn't deserve to be worshiped, but that's me, so back off...

An external God is an imaginary friend for adults and another boogey man for children. FNORDS "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by God; and without God was not any thing made that was made. In the word was life; and the life was the light of men." We live in a story God created to pass eternity. God is a fantasy writer! As characters in God's story we are part of god in a holographic way where each part contains the whole because the whole contains each part. Why do bad things happen to good people? It advances the plot. Why does science make new discoveries all the time? fnords To fill in the holes in the internal logic of the story. Time? Just a way to keep the "pages" in order.

The world was not always here!!! In fact in the beginning, there was nothing at all. Man can not fathom 'nothing'. John 1:1> In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God. This is at the very beginning, the Two are standing in nothing., Before anything was created, it was here God spoke , and it was done through the Word,Psalm 148:5.
Every thing God created was perfect. until Satan borough evil and sin into the world, and it was so great, it corrupted, greatly. Where ever there is sin, if will cause corruption. The first man borough sin against man, and into mans world. Sinful acts, and sinful things is the cause of mans down fall, and if Jesus does not come, mans sins will destroy man kind. God has no part of imperfection, He does not create it , and that is why He will cleanse the heavens and earth with fire, and there will be a new heaven and earth. God is love, and He wants man to except Him, and stop destroying himself. All we have to do is except His grace and have faith in Him.

Where do birth defects come from? Disease, environment, smoking or drinking during pregnancy, drugs during pregnancy...these are all man's doing. Even the genetic defects can likely be traced back to something man-made.

It is unfortunate that the innocent suffer because of the deeds of the guilty. That is how it is and God is not to blame.

Blaming God for the ills of this world is a cop-out. Demanding that He should have kept everything perfect is presumptious, as He has to let people do as they choose and live with the consequences. This is like if you killed a guy, stole his wallet and his car and blamed everyone else for the fact that you are in jail, when indeed, you are the one to blame for your situation.

What we see is not God's judgment, but the consequences of a world that wants to live without and/or against God.

In each life, there is a purpose. The blind may not see, but he has learned to develop his other senses. He has a keen sense of smell and of hearing. He takes pleasure in most things than those who can see.

Birth defects have different causes. It can be due to genes/chromosomes, exposure to radiations, parents' abuse of drugs or possible intake or exposure to substance that can cause such effects.

Even those born without birth "defects" can be considered imperfect, by the human definition. But then who cares? In God's eyes we are all made to perfection, in His own image and likeness.

God bless

Look at it this way and maybe it will begin to make sense to you. When God created Adam and Eve He created them perfectly, including a perfect genome. Then they sinned and were kicked out of the garden. From this point instead of the genome being perfect it began to degrade. Errors were introduced. DNA replication went from being perfect to having the possibility of errors. Now over thousands of years we have a genome that is far from perfect and full of errors. Far from evolving and becoming better the genome is actually degrading. For an example of this look at the amount of junk DNA in our genomes.

Let us look at your car analogy for a moment. Imagine you create a perfect car. It is made for the road. While on the road it has no problems. It needs no gas nor does it ever breakdown. Now lets take your perfect car off the road and place it in the ocean. While it was perfect for the road (As Adam and Eve were created perfect in and for the garden), in the ocean it cannot run. The motor becomes flooded. The salt begins to rust it. Because you perfect car is no longer in the environment it was intended for it loses its perfection.

If there is a God, I think that God, as a creator and manager of the life, is malicious, incompetent, or at least learning on the job. I can understand why some people believe in a God, but the idea of a perfect God seems absolutely absurd to me.

God did make a perfect world...
what you are not considering is the effect of the fall... the sin of man on all of creation

a good design...but in some ways a broken design as well
but perhaps you were not aware since Jesus died for the wrath of God there is nothing left but good intensions of God toward the redeemed so ALL THINGS WORK TOGETHER FOR GOOD TO THOSE WHO LOVE GOD even birth defects... all things

Your analogy is also highly flawed.
Your view of GOD as Creator is too simplistic.
You are thinking in purely mechanical terms.
The human being, & all animals, or other life,
were perfectly designed. But stuff happens!
Some of that is the result of sin, in the world.
e.g. the level of toxic waste pollution by man.
We know it's wrong, but we do it anyway;-{ SIN!
Some species are wiped out, others are formed.
Creation adapts, that's called evolution.
Adaptation is built into the design!

Yeah it is all because of original sin, blah blah blah, we will suffer eternally, only 300 or so generations have paid so far, for some fruit, obviously not enough blood and suffering for the worst tyrant in fiction.
