Of course they do ...and how in the world could anyone expect to enforce a ban on suicide...? What would you do, threaten to kill them?

What a brain twister. My thoughts are opposite of my faith. But I do not want public suicides. This affects the community, and causes additional accidents and even deaths, due to shock, etc.
The standard jumping off ledge of building is not acceptable. If you want attention just stay alive and get attention, then no one gets hurt.
I think mental stability means you have rights, while a person thinking suicide or say planning/talking suicide needs medical attention, and then return of their rights after they are restabilized. Except I do not know if the medical world is this advanced.
Basically this is a no win situation. The way I have babbled proves I have no answer for this.
Such a sad last memory for so many.

I really don't know. I would think that God would be pretty displeased if someone took their own life, because it shows a lack of faith and trust in Him, and he said it is impossible, without faith, to please him. Therefore, it seems to be ticking God off in a big way. I have known people to struggle with thoughts of suicide over different things ... the devil of the air is no joke, and he is very crafty! He can get people to believe some unbelievable things.

But then, there is the issue someone brought up of quality of life. I have told my family that if I was in some horrible accident and would be a vegetable, or in a prolonged coma, DNR (do not resuscitate). Is that suicide? I don't know.

I'm Christian.

Is suicide a right? Well, if someone really wants to do it, there's little anyone can do to stop them. We only make it a crime because that way we can at least get them some psychiatric /medical help.

But I think suicide is wrong in most cases. People can wipe the slate clean and start their lives over rather than kill themselves.

I am a Christian, and I guess I believe people, versus the government, do have a right to end their lives if they so wish. I do not believe in Doctor-Assisting, only because it creates a very blurry line between euthanasia/suicide and homicide, especially given the fact the only witness to the doctor assistance may likely be dead.

But, at the end of the day, it doesn't seem the Bible says a lot about suicide. I will leave the judgment of suicide in the eternal realm to God, because I am not so sure what God feels about it.

No. An individual has no right to take a human life, not even their own. It is murder. Or, in the case of suicide, self murder.

Judas Iscariot committed suicide. You don't want to be like him, do you?

In Islam suicide is a major sin. Only God has the right to give life and cause death.

If someone feels the need to end their own life for whatever reason, I don't hold that against them.

I'm an atheist.

I'm not promoting suicide, I just understand what draws a person to it.

Yes a person has the choice to take their own life just as they have a choice to follow Christ... however either way they will also be required to deal with the consequences of their choices.

Yes and no.
Someone who is deep in depression is not making a rational decision. Period. No matter what they think. What they need is help not death.
Now, people who are terminally ill with no hope of recovery and want to die with dignity and with out pain? Yes, they have EVERY right
