Yes! But I admit to feeling the exact trepidation you describe because I *know* that is a prayer that will get answered, and painfully! Sometimes I don't have the guts to do it so I just pray that the Lord would let me walk in humility. That's the spoonful of sugar that makes the medicine go down. ;)
I *truly* believe that humility is the key to life in Christ and that all virtues spring from humility. That's why, hard though it may be, I pray for humility (and often find myself walking around with my zipper down, literally!)
I remember reading Madame Guyon's autobiography and every time something humiliating happened or something mean spirited was done to her by someone else, she would pray, "Thank you Lord! You *knew* I needed to be humbled just then!" I try to remember to pray that prayer!

I do so every day. I know without it there is no hope, for it is a fine treasure of great worth. Meekness also is what is prayed for. Contrary to popular belief, meekness is not weakness.
Actually humility is a product of being meek. Moses was the most meek (other than Christ) man on the earth. It did not mean he was weak, but meant that he did not take offense at those who spoke evil of him. He knew that Lord avenges those who do so, and never felt a need to defend himself. He did, however, defend others who were offended.
If you are meek, you shall be humble, and the meek are the only ones who will inherit the earth, or see God.

I have learned that quite often our prayers aren't answered the way we want or expect.
Recently I asked God to heal my wife of her adiction. I prayed this on a Sunday night. Monday morning she was dead. Her adiction is healed, but obviously not how I expected.
To be honest, I am sort of afraid to ask for humility. What would God do? In fact, there are several things that I need that I am scared to ask for.
So no, I haven't prayed for humility. I have prayed for strength and thankfully that was answered - in a way that I hoped it would be.

I am humble and it was nothing I ever prayed for.
I been rejected over and over again by various people in my life that I tend not to be that arrogant. I have failed so many times in my life, that I definitely became humble.
The one thing I truly wish for and prayed for is wisdom, strength, good judgment and the will strong enough to overcome temptation and follow such wisdom God may give me and correct those who commit injustice and unwise acts.
I often ask what does God want from me a lot. I view God as I view my real father. Many people view obeying God as a bad thing, for they would have to give up their free will to follow him. I see things differently. When I was a child, I was in defiance of him because I thought I knew better then him and wanted my way. Now that I am older and went through some things he went through (I joined the Army for many reasons, one was to follow in his footsteps.) I know why he told me the things he did. He did so for he knew more then I did about the world and myself then I did at the time and did so for my best interest for he loved me. I view myself as a child compared to God, and hope he gives me wisdom the way I gained wisdom through my father. I hope he leads me in a way that makes me a better person, have a better life and for others also, the way my real father has done too.

Praying the rosary is comparatively new whilst in comparison with the rituals of Hindu and Muslims who've been protecting beads chanting phrases or call of their gods one hundred cases over as a mantra. The Mysteries recited in the Catholic Rosaries are all in regards to the debts of Jesus from his theory to His Crucifixion the place the mum is hailed extra generally because of the fact the main affected subject of the rosary and it started out only after the apparitions at Lourdes, France. there is quite no written scripture in regards to the prepare; in certainty, God Himself in the previous Books is telling his human beings to make their phrases few and to refrain from repeated phrases or too many phrases whilst praying or calling on His call.

In my 67+ years, I have been humbled and humiliated many, many, times; so I see no need to pray for it! It has come, it does come, it shall come! What we need to do is pray to God for Him to deliver us *through* it, not *from* it!
Dear "AMDG", I am so sorry for your loss! My sincere prayers go out to you! God Bless you, Brother!

Everyday I ask God to help me become just like "He who is my Saviour" (Jesus)... so yes... I think it's sort of like that.
