The ability inhale, sustain, and exhale air in a productive and properly controlled manner while simultaneously activating the muscles of vocal production to produce clear, accurate pitches through a relaxed, open and properly adjusted vocal tract. This should be done without unnecessary tension or use of any other muscles in the neck, shoulders, back, or face. A true vocalist should also be able to articulate well, using properly accented consonants with consistent and clear vowels throughout the entire range of the voice.

A good singing voice, a sense of pitch, powerful diaphragm, reading music helps, you can't be shy and you have to be comfortable with your own body.
