Become irrelevant? I thought that it never was relevant.
If religion is around when that happens chances are that you will have some religious person walking up to the artificial life with a bible asking have you found jesus? or have you head about god?
Edit:
I'm talking about artificial life as in an android

I predict the closest humans will ever get is creating our own viruses. They aren't alive and are simply DNA wrapped in a protein coat. It's not that I don't think we will be able to assemble most of the parts and work with very small molecules, but life is more than the sum of its parts. If the devil can't create life, neither can we.

My space shuttle just bumped into the debree from some dusty old planet, the debree is made of some pages that's written by some jesus guy, says religion, never heard of the word, must be some old ritual those 21st century people used to have and fight over crazily, seems exciting discovery ,, gonna take it back to the galactic museum of primordial humans.

In terms of sanity and rationality, religion already IS irrelevant. But in a broader context, religion will NOT be irrelevant so long as it has the potential and the capability of disrupting, degrading and even destroying our society.

The more pertinent words would be: When Jesus returns, the debate is over. There will be none who mock God next time.
Repent! While there is yet time. No man is promised tommorrow.
In His Service,
John the Baptist
PS I thought you guys said we were "evolving". How did that word "create" sneak in there?

well, that wont happen because only God can create life. humans might be able to reannimate a body, but even then, it would have no soul that only God can form. Good luck with that though.

How about something more thought provoking, like if we discover rational beings on another planet, will they be bound or share in the same Christian promises?

Haven't we already succeeded in creating very primitive life forms?
I still see religion.

No. These men didn't create nothing.
I would like to see them create something from nothing. They still use something from what God has created to start with.
Jehovah is God Almighty.
