that believing in God goes back to brainwashing children, thats not true, I never heard about God, my parents never went to church. ever. But as a little girl I was drawn to the church, started going on my own. I just always "new" that there was a God. My upbring had nothing to do with it.

for the record, I dont go to church anymore, but I do believe in God. I think I went before just to get away from my parents, it was a safe place.

They say it because they are ignorant. Maybe they do not want to believe because they would see that they are not nice people and would have to follow some rules. And to those dolts that brought up religion and the question was about God should learn to read. We are not all closed minded as you suggest. Peace

There is no such thing as a general rule that has no exceptions. There are always exceptions to the rule. That doesn't mean the general rule is false. You just happen to be one of of those who did not get indoctrinated by your parents. BUT the truth remains, the overwhelming majority of children ARE conditioned by parents, by family, by the community, in schools and by the general society in which they grew up into the prevailing belief system of those people in that area.
You cannot just look at your own situation and use that as a guide for what happens to everybody else. You ARE an exception to the rule.

That is indeed good for you and I am sincere. I do not, as the first answerer so rudely did, say this in a mocking way. May The Lord bless you forever.

Only those who came to reject God for whatever "reason" are the ones who, curiously, keep using the word brainwashing.
Hmmm. Maybe that's what they truly think of themselves for walking away from God, especially when they actually articulate those "reasons" and it's obvious they're not doing their own thinking, or arriving at their conclusions based on their own reasons.

The concept of a god was implanted upon by very subtle means. I doubt it's possible for a child to grow up anywhere and not hear about the concept of a god or gods.

Now you know why I rarely come to this site anymore. I gotta tell you. This site is full of people just trying to start trouble with Christians.
I agree with you. But be careful. There are quite a few who will ask a moral or religious question just to start trouble with us Christians.

you say as a little girl you were "drawn to the church." You are forgetting memories from your early childhood that involve being told god exists.
since he in fact does not exist, you cannot have known he exists. that is merely your ignorant, weak minded opinion.

We are not brain washed. If anything our brains have been washed clean by Jehovah God. We believe that the Bible is from God and that is a major protection for us.

My guess is you are also mostly uneducated. Fearful people seek ways to explain things that don't understand. I also very much doubt your parents never mentioned it.
Now I could be entirely wrong and you have a Phd and are a believer but that would make you an exeption.

for many it is that way though Cindy
and for those that have been raised that way , they dont think outside the box as much ( which is not really their fault )
you have been on both sides , so understand many views and are able to ask questions of yourself
