Hey everybody! I'm getting ready to send my 3 month old Daschund's AKC paperwork in. I am only missing one thing...an "AKC" name. His "regular" name is Oliver. His mom is Little Miss Sweet Sassy Lacey and his dad is Red Hot Roper. (I think his mom's name is a little dorky.) Any input would be great! Thanks!

Usually the name would incorporate the breeder name, for example I believe the dad would be from a breeder who uses 'red hot' as a prefix, then often it is finished with the dogs common name, eg in that case 'roper'. Why not incorporate your own name, like 'Jazzy Jacks Oliver' or you could create a kennel name, maybe using oliver as your inspiration, like 'Dickens Oliver Twist' then any later dogs you can carry on the theme, like 'Dickens Ebenezer Scrooge'.
I hope that gives you some ideas.

You need to name it according to whatever you and the breeder have worked in a contract (assuming it's from a breeder). You usually need the breeder's kennel name in it then up to 36 or 38 characters (including spaces).
For example:
My parents' kennel is T-Jay's
Our dogs are:
T-Jay's Glamor Girl
T-Jay's Tigerlily
T-Jay's Tail in Time
T-Jay's Ocean Adventurer

Dogs we got from other people have those peoples kennels names:

Baker's Queen Molly v Skylands (Baker's is where she and her mother came from....v equals of.....father is from Skylands [plus we co-owned her with the owner of Skylands])

T-Jay's Black Knight v Baker's (our kennel name came first because they arranged to get a puppy from this dog when he was older [which would have their kennel name first] Baker's is where he came from)

That is how you can tell it came from either a BYB or pet store. The lack of a "kennel name" says it all. Reputable breeders have you use their kennel "prefix" before the rest of the name to denote where the dog came from.
So, since there is none of that, you can call it whatever you want....there is nothing to "incorporate" from the breeder.
