I'm thinking of being an atheist.

Well, I am positive the Holy Triune God exists. And even though I feel like giving up alot I find myself getting drawn back to Jesus every time. And when that inevitable day does arrive I will be happier than hell that God didn't let me go.

Take care and may God bless you spiritually.
Praise Jesus !!!

I'm not sure how you make yourself disbelieve something even though you know it's true.

I am a former Christian who came to atheism because everything I knew for sure went against everything I wanted to believe. That was enough for me. I stopped believing in Jesus' resurrection and in the existence of god, because I couldn't see a shred of evidence for it anywhere. All I could see was that other people believed it was true, and that wasn't enough for me.

I miss it, kind of, because I know I have the temperament of a believer - except that I clearly don't, because I was persuaded by normal rational means of truth and argument. I was also very annoyed by the behaviour of Christians around me; most of the atheists I knew were nicer and kinder people, and so the argument that faith improves a person's character cut no ice with me. I have never had a true religious experience and I have never felt within myself the certainty that I believe you're supposed to have if you are a real Christian.

Since becoming an atheist, I am way happier and much less intolerant of other people's belief (or lack of same). Christianity made me into a bad person; atheism has encouraged me to be a better one. Not saying I've got there yet, just that sometimes I try.

Your first step is to learn to think objectively and critically, i.e. you don't just accept what you read as true, you evaluate it against both sides. You need to read between the lines and see what the author is and is not saying. This is true for whatever you read.

Your next step is to learn exactly what evidence is and apply it to to whatever you're evaluating.

That's pretty much it. Except to keep learning about everything -- oh, forgot one thing, rather than assuming something is real, you need to accept that you don't know one way or the other, and then determine what the evidence is from an objective stand point.

Ooh wow...that was funny. I really doubt anyone is going to take your horrible point seriously. By the way, you say God is real, but the burden of proof is on the person making the claim. So where's your evidence? That's what I thought.

you can't until you realize that god has not one shred of proof and the bible is just a book made up by men in a committee. You seem happy with being one of the faithful it would be a shame for you to give up on your mythology.

Start by learning the definition of the following words:
real
evidence
fact
science
hypothesis
theory

Right now, you're clearly clueless. Honestly, I think you're too stupid to be an atheist. Stick with your Religion, it doesn't take any thought at all.

Like evolution? You could try not breathing for a few minutes - that ought to kill enough brain cells to make you disagree with it, and find the Bible more reasonable....

Yeah, thats what I thought.

Look at the clear blue sky, and there you will find your answer. That whcih was real was really just hidden in the clouds.

Stop trying to think...please. You're not very good at it, and it's painful for all of us.
