Personally when I see a question regarding Al Gore like this one:

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AhiY0r28UP6NF2ANQsQsLgAFxgt.;_ylv=3?qid=20070924144015AAbxxOf

It makes me think that the asker is desperate for any argument to convince himself that global warming is a non-issue. Al Gore is completely irrelevant, and if you need to use him as an example to justify your own irresponsible behavior, then perhaps a bit of self examination is in order.

When you see a question like this, what's your reaction?

When a question about Al Gore is from a denier/skeptic of global warming it's just their way to put focus away from the real issue, which is what and how much we need to do to hinder the most severe consequences from global warming to appear.

If they don't even believe the problem is real, then why should they even care what Al Gore does? If anyone have the right to be upset about Al Gore's possible hypocrisy then it's us who DO believe global warming is a serious problem.

Edit:
amancalledchuda: Al Gore himself IS irrelevant. His film isn't...
That's why
"They think he’s *so* relevant that they’ve ruled that every single schoolchild in the country must be subjected to his alarmist, scaremongering propaganda."
Come on, you're smart enought to know it's the MESSAGE he brings from the results of thousands of scientists that's relevant, and (in most opionions) basically true. But I don't believe in Global warming because of Al Gore. I've not even seen the whole film yet.

There are also some really interesting anti Al Gore pages on myspace and from what I can tell most of these people have never even seen the movie or if they did they didn't understand it. Everything in that movie, every graph and every chart I learned about in college almost 10 years ago. All Al Gore has done is make this information accessible to a wider audience. Certainly, Al Gore is human and has done his share of environmental damage but, he has also done more good than most people ever will. Take it from me most rich people flying around on corporate jets could care less how anything they do effects anyone and have no comprehension of their environmental impact.

So the short answer is it frustrates me that someone get criticized soo much for making a real effort to do something good. Additionally, it frustrates me a great deal that so many people do not understand even the most basic science and make arguments that have no basis.

Dana, you are *such* a hypocrite. If fact, words have not been invented to describe how much of a hypocrite you are.

Let’s face facts here; Al Gore is the High Priest of catastrophic global warming. He and his damn film are the number one reason that so many gullible people are running around, waving their hands above their heads, screaming “Global warming is going to be a catastrophe! WE’RE ALL GOING TO DIE!!!” (figuratively speaking, of course)

But Al Gore is “completely irrelevant” according to you. Well, the U.K. government doesn’t agree with you. They think he’s *so* relevant that they’ve ruled that every single schoolchild in the country must be subjected to his alarmist, scaremongering propaganda.

A day barely goes by without someone sticking a question on here saying something like “Global warming is going to be a catastrophe, because… it caused Katrina / the polar bears are dying / sea levels will rise 20ft” (delete as applicable). None of which is true, as you well know.

The truth is, you’re sitting there telling anyone who criticises Gore that they’re “desperate for any argument to convince [themselves] that global warming is a non-issue” on the grounds that he’s “completely irrelevant”, while at the same time rubbing your hands with glee over the vast numbers of people who have swallowed his nonsense whole.

If you truly believe that Gore is so “irrelevant” why do you not advise the plethora of people on here citing Gore’s film to find themselves better sources of information?

Again, it’s because you’re too busy rubbing your hands with glee thinking “A-ha! Another sucker converted!”

In summary: You disapprove of those who criticise Gore, since he is “completely irrelevant”, but you pass no comment on those who cite and support him.

I conclude, therefore, that you are a hypocrite.

Somebody is unable to make a decision without the talking heads of the right wing telling them what to think. When Sean Hannity spends more time demeaning Gore than actually proving that GW doesn't exist, you know it is no more than a straw-man argument, something that Sean thrives on.

I always feel a bit of pity for Al Gore because he was Vice President and look how far he has fallen. He was a laughing stock when he pretended to invent the internet and when he pretended Love Story was about him and Tipper. He is probably a well meaning guy but just about ready for a rubber room. I certainly agree that Al Gore and Global Warming are not related in any scientific way. Al Gore has simply found a cause that his fragile psyche can grab a hold of to pretend he is accomplishing something again.

This fascination with personal attacks over real science seems to be a denier trademark. You almost never here proponents attacking rush limbaugh, john christy, or james inhofe in questions. With the denier group it seems as if al gore or james hansen is mentioned in every other question.

desperate moves
to find something that might (in their minds)rustle up some support for their ignorence ,

They think Al gore is the entrance to discrediting Global Warming .As if he had anything to do with it ,instead of just highlighting awareness

Their credibility is doomed ,like a bull going into the ring saying meeeeeee, hoping it wont get killed.not knowing that most of the crowd prefers to eat sheep anyway.

A mixture of pity and contempt for people so intellectually bankrupt they have nothing to do but come here and post things about Al Gore. I thought it was a sexual fixation at first, until I realized they were all eunuchs.
